Job Description The Nevada System of Higher Education (NSHE) invites applications and nominations for the position of Principal Network Engineer. This is a renewable, full-time, non-tenured, administrative position and reports to the Director of Infrastructure Services. The position may be located in Reno, Nevada. The NSHE is comprised of eight institutions: two universities, a state college, four community colleges and a research institute. The public system of higher education in Nevada continues to experience growth with significant challenges and opportunities in serving over 105,000 students and 15,000 employees. The Principal Network Engineer is responsible for the architecture, ongoing development, troubleshooting, and maintenance of SCS's highly available and secure state-wide network, known as NevadaNet. This network supports academic research at Nevada's leading research universities as well as statewide connectivity for community anchors and other state or public institutions. Incumbents perform a wide range of work at the highest level of complexity utilizing sophisticated economic and technical analysis, design, installation, testing, maintenance and troubleshooting connectivity hardware and software associated with the SCS NevadaNet network, including routers, switches, fiber optic long haul transport and distribution equipment, firewalls, servers, racks, cabling and power. The incumbent also provides the highest-level data and video network engineering, operations and security support services to NevadaNet constituents as required. (ASI) has oversight of the financial, risk management and information technology operations of the organization. As a member of the library’s dynamic, collaborative Instructional Technology Services team, the librarian in this position has primary oversight for the Office of Legal Technology &amp; Instructional Services. This position leads the development and delivery of services supporting the integration of library resources into the curriculum, the curation and use of the library’s growing electronic resources collection, the use of scholarly communication technologies and services, and the undertaking of digital initiatives. Leadership &amp; Governance Dr. Damián J. Fernández is the 10th president of Warren Wilson College, assuming leadership on June 1, 2023.
A Cuban immigrant and first-generation college student who grew up in Puerto Rico, Fernández comes to Warren Wilson with more than 30 years of experience in teaching and leadership positions at both private and public institutions.
Chair of the Board Lach Zemp said, “Dr. <a>Fernández</a> brings a wealth and depth of experience in higher education that is in perfect alignment with the values instilled in our students from Warren Wilson’s long legacy of excellent academics, service to community and the importance of work.”
Fernández’s aspirations for Warren Wilson College include advancing innovative programs that deepen project- and problem-based learning, growing and diversifying enrollment, addressing facilities and other institutional needs, and rethinking the traditional business model of liberal arts colleges.
“Warren Wilson’s foundational commitment to access and its pedagogy of mind, heart, and hand—learning, service, and work—are as compelling now as in 1894,” Fernández said. “Together we will push the boundaries of experiential learning for the 21st century. Warren Wilson will be a leader in the renewal of the American liberal arts college by focusing on excellence, inclusion, innovation, and impact.”

Fernández received his bachelor’s from the Woodrow Wilson School of Public and International Affairs at Princeton University, master’s in Latin American Studies from the University of Florida, and Ph.D. in International Relations from the University of Miami.
