Reporting to the Director of Development &amp; Communications, the&nbsp;Major Donor &amp; Institutional Giving Officer (MDO) &nbsp;is a pivotal member of the Development team, responsible for securing philanthropic investment to help advance the organization’s mission of accelerating equitable access to renewable energy solutions. The role leads the cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of a focused portfolio of major individual donors ($5,000+) and institutional funders—including foundations, corporations, and public/government entities, while coordinating the full grants lifecycle—from prospecting and proposal development to reporting and compliance
The ideal candidate is an experienced relationship-builder and storyteller with a proven track record of successfully securing five, six- and seven-figure gifts and grants, deep expertise in donor strategy, and the ability to translate complex renewable energy and climate justice initiatives into compelling, results-oriented cases for support. Through strategic relationship management and cross-functional collaboration, this position will grow and diversify B.O.S.S.’ philanthropic support aligned to program impact to drive clean energy innovation, strengthen community resilience, support climate justice, and expand equitable access for historically underserved populations.
Minimum Qualifications include (but are not limited to):
<ul>
<li>Bachelor's degree from an accredited four-year college or university in a relevant field (e.g., nonprofit management, communications, &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;or business administration) required. Advanced degree preferred.</li>
<li>5–8+ years of progressive fundraising experience, including 5+ years in major gifts and institutional giving.</li>
<li>Demonstrated success cultivating and stewarding major donors, closing five, six, and seven figure major gifts and grants; comfort with gift negotiation and structuring.</li>
<li>Advanced proposal writing and case development skills; ability to translate technical clean energy concepts into compelling narratives.</li>
<li>Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to craft compelling narratives, presentations, and proposals to engage diverse audiences.</li>
<li>Strong understanding of the nonprofit fundraising landscape, particularly major donor and institutional giving cultivation strategies, grant writing techniques, and fundraising best practices</li>
<li>Proven ability to conceptualize and describe funding needs, including the value of investing in clean/renewable energy sources (especially those provided by Black and Brown people) in a way that is compelling to prospects, donors, Board, staff, and other stakeholders.</li>
<li>Strong grants coordination experience (calendars, proposals, reporting, compliance) with foundations and corporations; familiarity with public/nonprofit grant mechanics.</li>
<li>Strong network of foundation, corporate, and individual philanthropic leaders with interests in racial equity and workforce development.</li>
<li>Passion for environmental sustainability, racial equity, and social justice, with a commitment to advancing B.O.S.S.'s mission and values.</li>
<li>Strong understanding of data utilization and management, as well as the effective use of fundraising technology and data for strategic operations and decision-making.</li>

Coachella Valley Repertory Theatre (CVRep) seeks a full time Major Gift Officer to head their fundraising program for the theatre. The successful candidate for this new position will have experience in various aspects of development including major and planned gifts, annual fund, donor relations, corporate and foundation giving and special events. We expect candidates to be prepared to make phone calls, initiate contact with new and potential donors, as well as run planned fundraising campaigns. Knowledge of the Coachella Valley philanthropic community is a plus but not required for this position.
Major and Planned Gifts Development: 
<ul>
<li>Manage a portfolio of major gift prospects by building on existing relationships and forming new donor relationships on an ongoing basis.</li>
<li>Identify and steward prospective new donors. Create lists for new donor prospects and make phone calls to such perspective donors. Cultivate the board and committees, soliciting them for annual support as well as special giving opportunities.</li>
<li>Partner with the Executive Artistic Director (EAD) on donor calls and work to schedule meetings to solicit gifts and engage prospects in the life of the theatre. Work with the EAD to solicit annual support for season sponsorships from individuals, foundations and corporations. This includes cultivating existing sponsors as well as the identification of new sponsors. Establish a planned giving program for the theatre and utilize these efforts as part of the opportunities available to support CVRep. This includes the development of marketing materials for print, web and electronic communications.</li>
<li>Conduct research on potential prospects to identify their interest in theatre and their capacity to give.</li>
<li>Develop and implement fundraising strategies to include the development of case(s) for support for specific needs of the theatre and to use as a cultivation and marketing tool with potential donors.</li>

This role supports the Controller in preparing accurate and timely financial reports, improving accounting systems, and supporting the financial health of our growing online and tech-focused programs while keeping with GAAP, FASB, and best practices for non-profit institutions of higher education. Salary Range and Position Details: 95,000 to $115,000, Full-time, exempt, located in Fremont, CA. The role is initially on-site with hybrid work as an option after a certain period. Key Responsibilities 
<ul>
<li>Assist the Controller in managing all areas of accounting and financial reporting, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, student financial services, procurement, fixed assets, and cash management. </li>
<li>Oversee and direct staff accountants to ensure a timely month-end close while providing technical accounting guidance; and ensuring compliance with nonprofit and generally accepted accounting principles, applicable law and regulation, SFBU policies and guidelines, and best practices.</li>
<li>Prepare and review general ledger entries, account reconciliations, and all other accounting processes in an accrual-based accounting system.</li>
<li>Establish, monitor, and enforce appropriate internal controls to safeguard the institution's assets and ensure accurate financial reporting.</li>
<li>Manage the university's financial systems, including the general ledger and Sage Intacct ERP. Manage Sage Intacct integrations with systems for student accounts, financial aid, payroll / HRIS, expense management and banking and financial institutions. </li>
<li>Help implement and maintain finance-related technologies and systems to support online operations and digital revenue streams.</li>
<li>Oversee student accounts management in Salesforce and integration with the general ledger system.</li>
<li>Maintain, update, and implement accounting policies, procedures, internal controls, and business processes to support compliant, transparent, and efficient execution of the university's business. Provide user documentation and training to foster a culture of compliance and a good internal control environment. </li>
<li>Participate in professional development to maintain current knowledge and skills in all areas of responsibility. </li>
<li>Perform other duties as assigned.</li>

 Essential Qualifications 
<ul>
<li>Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (required).</li>
<li>5+ years of progressive experience in accounting.</li>
<li>In-depth experience with GAAP accounting standards, technical accounting and nonprofit or higher education environment. </li>
<li>Excellent communication skills, including communicating technical financial concepts and information to general audiences.</li>
<li>Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and Google Workspace (mail, calendars, docs).</li>
<li>Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to explain complex financial concepts to both financial and non-financial audiences.</li>
<li>Experience supervising and mentoring a finance/ accounting team, to ensure high performance and professional development.</li>
</ul>
 Preferred Qualifications 
<ul>
<li>Certified Public Accountant (CPA) strongly preferred.</li>
<li>Other value-add credentials include Certified Management Accounting credential and/or master's degree in finance, accounting, business, or related field.</li>
<li>2+ years of accounting experience in a higher education setting; working knowledge of FASB standards and non-profit higher education finance. </li>
<li>2+ years of management experience.</li>
<li>Experience with Sage Intacct and/or Salesforce, particularly experience with implementations and integrations.</li>
<li>Experience with policy, procedure, and business process redesign.</li>
<li>Experience with student accounts, including Title IV compliance.</li>
</ul>
