GENERAL DESCRIPTION:
 
Pallet repairman is primarily responsible for repairing pallets to a specified spec. This is a full time position where experience is highly recommended. Must be bilingual to communicate with personnel. Applicants will be operating power tools, nail guns, and saws. Pallets are repaired, graded, and then stacked. Safety and quality are the main components to this position.
 
Pallet repairmen are recommended to wear steel toe work boots, and expected to wear all proper safety equipment at all times. Must be able to read and understand a tape measure, read spec sheets/tools and follow instructions on how to build/repair pallets to specifications.
 
SPECIFIC DUTIES:
<ul>
<li>Comply with all safety procedures at all times while performing job duties using Personal Protection Equipment (PPE), manual and power tools.</li>
<li>Inspects pallets visually for defects including, but not limited to, broken boards and blocks, missing components, nail defects, debris and contamination. Correct defects that do not meet specification criteria.</li>
<li>Removes damaged boards with a pry bar/hammer.</li>
<li>Use a reciprocating saw and grinder to cut or remove old and bent nails.</li>
<li>Attach appropriate boards according to company specs using a pneumatic nail gun and hammer.</li>
<li>Perform simple math skills by adding or subtracting the number of pallets repaired.</li>
<li>Restocks building supplies at the end of shift.</li>
<li>Cleans pallet repair area during and at end of shift.</li>
<li>May be required to work frequent overtime, weekends, or rotating shifts.</li>
<li>Performs other duties as required.</li>
</ul>
 
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

<li>Some experience in construction and/or related field.</li>
<li>Ability to operate electrical and pneumatic power tools and hand tools.</li>

May also perform preventive maintenance tasks such as lubrication and replacing oil filters and other similar duties. Incidentally may supervise a small crew of workers at a lower skill level such as laborer, helper, and maintenance man. Performs other related duties as assigned. QUALIFICATIONS:
High School Diploma or equivalent. Trade shop in auto repair.
Must have at least two (2) years working experience in the auto/truck repair industry. Knowledge of the tools, materials, techniques utilized in the repair of motor equipment.
Working knowledge of welding/brazing techniques, as well as torch use. Ability to use hand and power tools, the materials and equipment necessary for proper repair to motor equipment.
Working knowledge of the occupational hazards and safety precautions related to motor equipment repair.
Ability to make simple estimates of materials required to perform repair to motor equipment in accordance with manufacturer's specifications or other established procedures.
Ability to read and interpret equipment repair manuals and diagrams, and to work from oral and/or written instructions.
Ability to climb and work from scaffolding or ladders or platforms at some distance above the ground.
Must be able to work in the public safety field / understand and follow rules of evidence and confidentiality that are essential in Police work.
Must be prepared to testify in court if the need arises.
Appointment to this position is subject to an appropriate background investigation to include a safe driving record.
Must be able to receive and interpret written and oral instructions from the fleet supervisor and I or his designee.
Must be able to submit written and oral reports of completed work and works in progress to these persons as requested.

Essential Accountabilities

<li>Demonstrates a basic level of proficiency in executing workmanship on production projects including large line-ups and complex sections in all areas of assembly. Installing all types of electrical components and devices onto pans and into enclosures per drawing packages, assembly guides, and instructions defined by the Engineering Department. </li>
<li>Prep and install electrical components, switches, meters, breaker cells, breakers, nameplates, sensors, etc. by reading and comprehending drawing packages, layouts and documents with supervision, to efficiently build customized equipment in order to meet and exceed deadlines. </li>

As a Mill Electrical Technician (MET), you will provide all necessary electrical, electronic and combustion-instrumentation maintenance to all areas of the Mill in a safe and efficient manner. This position reports to the Superintendent of Maintenance.

<li>$30.35 - Mill Electrical Technician - Trainee - must have the equivalence in one of three crafts which include combustion-Instrumentation Technician, Electronic Repairman and Electrical Inspector (Maintenance Electrician) </li>
<li>$32.85 - Mill Electrical Technician - Starter - must have the equivalence in two of three crafts which include combustion-Instrumentation Technician, Electronic Repairman and Electrical Inspector (Maintenance Electrician) </li>
<li>$ 36.96 to $45.00 per hour depending on experience - Mill Electrical Technician - Standard - must posses an electrical journeyman license or equivalent education/experience.</li>
<li>Relocation Assistance available between $5,000- $10,000 depending on location</li>

<li>Serve the function(s) of a Combustion-Instrumentation Technician, Electronic Repairman and/or Electrical Inspector (Maintenance Electrician) depending upon training and certification </li>
<li>Complete the RMSM training program to become skilled in all three of the crafts mentioned above</li>
<li>Troubleshoot, repair, dismantle, assemble and install a variety of equipment throughout the mill</li>
<li>Work with Electric Shop, Combustion Lab and Electronic Shop equipment and tools, mobile equipment of every kind, controls, switches, valves, ovens, furnaces, machinery, cranes, prints and drawings </li>
<li>Observe lockout procedures</li>
<li>Keep work area and equipment clean and orderly </li>
<li>Perform routine maintenance and assisting Maintenance personnel </li>
<li>Operate overhead cranes as needed</li>
<li>Work in both inside and outside environmental conditions, while exposed to elevated noise levels, vibrations, extreme cold and heat; conditions which require use of a respirator or dust mask; in close proximity to moving parts, electrical currents; working on scaffolding and high places; exposure to natural gas, high heat, hot surfaces, molten metal, chemicals, oils and lubricants</li>
<li>Obtain and maintain OSHA 10 and equipment certifications, as required</li>

<li>Must have completed or have the equivalence of a craft apprenticeship in one of the following three crafts: Combustion-Instrumentation Technician, Electronic Repairman and Electrical Inspector (Maintenance Electrician) </li>
<li>1 - 3 years of experience as an electrician in heavy industry, manufacturing, or mining; experience working with machinery, overhead cranes, equipment operation or a closely related field preferred</li>
<li>Valid Colorado license and mobile equipment qualification </li>
<li>Strong troubleshooting, repair and installation skills </li>
<li>Must be a self-starter with the ability to work with minimal supervision and manage your time when given multiple tasks</li>
<li>Must have excellent interpersonal communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with all levels of personnel</li>
<li>Physical ability to climb, walk, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, make repetitive motions, hear, etc. and the ability to lift up to 75 pounds</li>
