We are seeking a dependable and physically capable Facilities Surplus Worker to assist with facility clean-outs, warehouse operations, property relocation, and surplus inventory preparation. This position supports building transition projects by removing, relocating, organizing, and preparing furniture, equipment, and materials for storage, reuse, or surplus disposal.
The ideal candidate is safety-conscious, detail-oriented, and comfortable performing physical labor while working both independently and as part of a team.
Key Responsibilities
Property & Material Handling
- Remove furniture, equipment, supplies, and miscellaneous materials from assigned facilities.
- Load, unload, transport, and stage materials using safe lifting practices.
- Prepare surplus property for transportation and storage.
- Relocate reusable equipment and furniture to designated locations.
- Assist with disposal of non-salvageable materials.
Warehouse & Inventory Support
- Organize, label, and stage surplus inventory.
- Maintain orderly warehouse and storage areas.
- Assist with inventory movement and material organization.
- Ensure materials are handled carefully to prevent damage.
- Support warehouse operations as assigned.
Facility Clean-Out
- Perform building clean-out activities.
- Disassemble furniture, shelving, and equipment when required.
- Remove debris and clean work areas after material removal.
- Prepare facilities for turnover by ensuring spaces are clean and empty.
Equipment Operation
- Safely operate:

- Hand trucks
- Carts
- Basic hand tools
- Follow all safety procedures and use required PPE.
Safety & Compliance
- Maintain a safe work environment.
- Report damaged property or safety concerns.
- Follow verbal and written work instructions.
- Adhere to established material handling procedures.
Minimum Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED preferred.
- Ability to perform physically demanding work throughout the workday.
- Ability to safely lift, carry, push, and pull up to 75 pounds (with assistance or equipment when necessary).
- Ability to work indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Valid driver's license preferred.
