We are delighted to launch our 2026 Quantum Software Internship programme. As a Quantum Software Intern you will have the opportunity to join the Phasecraft team for a few (typically 3) months. Not only will you work on a technical research project focusing on the design, implementation or analysis of quantum algorithms and related techniques in near-term quantum computing, but you will also have the chance to experience life in a young and vibrant startup that is constantly pushing the boundaries of our knowledge of quantum computing. Past projects have ranged from theoretical work on the underpinning mathematics of quantum algorithms to writing code for real or simulated quantum hardware.
Our recent internship programmes have proven to be meaningful and successful. In 2022 we hired our first permanent staff member who had previously participated in our Internship programme and we have several ongoing collaborations with former interns. Some of the work undertaken during internships has also been published (Optimizing fermionic encodings for both Hamiltonian and hardware and Extracting the spin excitation spectrum of a fermionic system using a quantum processor). Our team has enjoyed working on challenging projects with talented interns with diverse academic backgrounds including Quantum Information Theory, Materials Science, Physics and Computer Science.
The internship is a paid position with a competitive salary. Interns are based with the Phasecraft team in our offices in Bristol and London in the UK and Washington DC in the US. Internships usually take place over the summer months, though dates can be flexible.
As a Quantum Software Intern, we expect the ideal candidate will have experience in the implementation of advanced quantum algorithms or otherwise strong evidence of potential to contribute to this area. A background in quantum computing is not necessarily required nor is a track record of publishing scientific papers in this area; however the candidate should be able to demonstrate a keen interest in quantum computing through formal or independent studies.

We are seeking an energetic and highly motivated individual to join our team as an IT Specialist providing essential IT support, managing Hive Group’s internal IT infrastructure as well as support of our government clients.&nbsp; This pivotal role involves a mix of billable client support and critical internal corporate operations.
The IT Specialist will play a key role in advancing company-wide IT, security, and compliance initiatives, including comprehensive documentation and ensuring alignment with rigorous federal standards, specifically the Cybersecurity Maturity Model Certification (CMMC) and NIST 800-171 requirements.
This is a full-time, on-site position (5 days/week) located in McLean, VA.
Position Responsibilities
<ul>
<li>IT Administration &amp; Support</li>
<li>Maintain a consistent on-site presence, with core hours from 8:00 AM–4:00 PM, and flexibility for an earlier start when operational needs arise.</li>
<li>Serve as the primary administrator for the corporate G Suite Platform, managing Google Accounts and employee access.</li>
<li>Provide primary in-office technical support for all employee IT needs.</li>
<li>Support client requests for IT services and troubleshooting</li>
<li>Manage corporate cyber security infrastructure, including maintenance and policy development.</li>
<li>Provide support for network access, including VPN, Wi-Fi, and VLAN configuration.</li>
</ul>
Asset &amp; Endpoint Management
<ul>
<li>Prepare and deploy laptops and Chromebooks for new hires, encompassing imaging, updates, security baseline configuration, and software installations.</li>
<li>Maintain a precise inventory of all IT assets, including hardware, software licenses, and physical security assets.</li>
<li>Coordinate and track shipments of Government Furnished Equipment (GFE).</li>
<li>Conduct regular endpoint health checks and support maintenance of internal AV equipment and firmware updates.</li>
</ul>
Facilities &amp; Operations
<ul>
<li>Ensure consistent, coordinated on-site coverage in collaboration with the Office Manager.</li>
<li>Coordinate with partner staff to ensure facilities compliance and maintenance.</li>
<li>Prepare and maintain conference room technology and equipment.</li>
</ul>
Security &amp; Compliance
<ul>
<li>Actively assist IT leadership with crucial security compliance efforts, including CMMC and NIST 800-171 documentation and internal audits.</li>
<li>Test and monitor for system vulnerabilities.</li>
<li>Develop and maintain comprehensive IT and security Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).</li>
</ul>
Reporting &amp; Deliverables
<ul>
<li>Submit detailed weekly status updates and support additional client deliverables as required.</li>
</ul>
Required Qualifications:
<ul>
<li>Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent professional experience of 5–7 years in complex IT Infrastructure and Systems administration.</li>
<li>2–4 years of experience administering cloud platforms, with a strong preference for Google Workspace/G Suite.</li>
<li>Proven ability to troubleshoot across diverse operating systems and devices, including Windows, ChromeOS, printers, conference room AV systems, and workstation setups.</li>
<li>Fundamental knowledge of networking principles (IP addressing, VLANs, Wi-Fi) and Voice over IP (VoIP) technologies.</li>
<li>Demonstrated ability to quickly learn and master new administrative tools and security platforms (e.g., NinjaOne, Sophos XDR, Fortinet).</li>
<li>Must be able to obtain a Public Trust Clearance</li>
</ul>
Preferred Experience:
<ul>
<li>Prior experience in a Government Contracting (GovCon) environment or supporting government clients.</li>
<li>Experience with and exposure to NIST 800-171, CMMC, or other related federal security and control frameworks.</li>
<li>Familiarity with security controls, documentation, and compliance processes.</li>
<li>Previous experience managing an IT Department or team.</li>
</ul>
Compensation and Benefits&nbsp;
The estimated compensation range for this position is between $95,000 and $125,000 annually, based on benchmarks in the Washington, D.C. area. This range reflects a good faith estimate for all experience levels.
