Providers should be comfortable working in a brief therapy model Support alcohol screening and brief intervention that dovetails with the Academy’s conduct system Provide consultation and training to faculty and staff on issues affecting the social and emotional needs of students Develop and facilitate outreach programming in the form of health promotion events, psychoeducational presentations, or therapy groups, with a particular focus on substance use education. Flexibility to occasionally work outside of normal business hours to facilitate such events Related case management duties include coordinating with students, their families, off-campus treatment providers, and on campus support services Risk assessment and related crisis intervention duties Participation in a portion (maximum of 3 weeks) of Sea Term, providing counseling and programming aboard the Academy’s training ship Working in partnership with student-led organizations and committees which focus on campus wellness initiatives While rare, the provider could also be responsible for coordinating emergency psychiatric evaluations, including involuntary psychiatric holds (“Section 12”) with staff eligible to apply for such holds, or in coordination with other Academy clinicians and local emergency services Follow all related departmental and Academy protocols and procedures, including standards for documentation and</li>

Staff Assistant/Behavioral Health Counselor 

International Student and Scholar Services (ISSS) is a leader in the University of Minnesota’s goal to be a top global learning environment for all its students and scholars.&nbsp; The Associate Director of Student Advising and Counseling leads the ISSS student advising and counseling staff that provide student immigration advising, several engagement programs, crisis management, funding, academic and personal counseling, an international student and scholar tax program, and the issuance of initial and subsequent student documents. The Associate Director mentors and supports the professional development and success of the advising and counseling staff. The Associate Director is the Principal Designated School Official, providing leadership and consultation for staff, campus departments, and system campuses on complex international student matters. The Associate Director is a member of the ISSS leadership team and with others on the leadership team, serves as the Director in absence of the Assistant Dean/Director of ISSS. ISSS is a comprehensive unit that includes both student and scholar services as well as recruitment of international undergraduates, sponsored students, incoming exchanges, and student engagement and intercultural initiatives. PRINCIPAL PURPOSE OF JOB: Disaster Educator plays a vital role in providing education and resources related to disaster preparedness, response, and recovery to the community. This position is responsible for developing and delivering educational programs and materials to increase community resilience and ensure individuals, families, and communities are better prepared to handle natural or man-made disasters. The specialist will work closely with county extension offices, emergency management agencies, and community organizations to coordinate and implement disaster education initiatives.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:&nbsp;

<li>Conduct needs assessments to identify community disaster preparedness gaps and priorities.</li>
<li>Design, develop, and deliver educational programs and workshops related to disaster preparedness, response, and recovery.</li>
<li>Utilize various teaching methods, including in-person training, webinars, workshops, and multimedia resources, to effectively communicate with diverse audiences.</li>
<li>Collaborate with other extension specialists and subject matter experts to incorporate relevant information and best practices into educational materials that extension staff may implement or utilize for programming.</li>
<li>Create and curate educational resources, fact sheets, guides, and instructional materials related to disaster preparedness and recovery.</li>
<li>Stay updated on emerging trends, technologies, and best practices in disaster education and incorporate them into resource development.</li>
<li>Ensure all educational materials and resources are accurate, evidence-based, and accessible to diverse audiences, including individuals with disabilities and non-English speakers.</li>
<li>Develop and implement evaluation tools and methodologies to measure the impact and effectiveness of disaster education programs.</li>
<li>Collect and analyze data to assess program outcomes and identify areas for improvement.</li>
<li>Prepare regular reports and documentation of program activities, including participation numbers, success stories, and recommendations for future enhancements.</li>
<li>Coordinate and work with extension staff, nutrition expertise, and other external personal to respond to emergency food allocation and distribution (utilizing mobile nutrition kitchen) to assist survivors</li>

<li>A master’s degree in a relevant field such as emergency management, disaster management, education, or a related discipline.</li>
<li>Experience in disaster education, emergency management, or related fields is highly desirable.</li>
<li>Strong knowledge of disaster preparedness, response, and recovery strategies, including hazard mitigation, community resilience, and post-disaster rebuilding.</li>
<li>Excellent communication and presentation skills with the ability to effectively convey complex information to diverse audiences.</li>
<li>Experience in curriculum development, instructional design, and resource creation for educational programs.</li>
<li>Proficient in using technology and multimedia tools for developing educational materials and delivering presentations.</li>
<li>Ability to work independently, as well as collaborate and build partnerships with community stakeholders and organizations.</li>
<li>Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously.</li>

State Specialist for Disaster Education

PHI’s Senior Workforce Intervention Specialist works to improve job quality for direct care workers by contributing to the development, implementation, and evaluation of PHI’s practice-based employment and training models. As a part of PHI’s Workforce Innovations Team (WIT), they will specialize in leading engagements related to operationalizing and evaluating meaningful advancement opportunities that expand the direct care career ladder; additionally, they may support programs aimed at strengthening recruitment and retention practices, creating a coaching culture, developing adult-learner centered training, and assessing direct care job quality. Outstanding skills in critical thinking, proactive leadership, written and verbal communication, relationship building, and workforce and organizational development are essential for success in this role. &nbsp;
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES
<ul>
<li>Lead the implementation of PHI practice-based job quality interventions, including creating and maintaining work plans and timelines, managing partner relationships, executing project activities, and reporting progress to PHI’s Vice President of Workforce Innovations through verbal and written communication.</li>
<li>Build and manage relationships with numerous strategic workforce partners – including long-term care employers, payors, advocates, and others - to support collaboration and the successful integration of job quality practices.</li>
<li>Provide technical assistance and consulting to project-based partners to support program design, implementation, and evaluation; this will include intensive, hands-on support to project partners to assess and modify organizational practices in support of implementing and maintaining workplace environments conducive to high-quality direct care jobs.</li>
<li>Routinely meet programmatic deadlines and proactively communicate impediments to the Vice President of Workforce Innovations.</li>
<li>Produce high-quality project deliverables in line with PHI and WIT acceptance criteria including PowerPoint slide deck presentations, external and internal reports, project worksheets, assessment tools, workflows, and other items as needed to meet project goals.</li>
<li>Plan, facilitate, and document meetings, informational sessions, webinars and other interactions with external partners; this could include coordinating planning with WIT and other PHI staff members, sending meeting invitations and conferencing information to attendees, creating and disseminating agendas, facilitation, documenting and archiving associated notes, and establishing next steps.</li>
