Job Title: Sales Rep (Field Based)

Job Description

This role supports a new delivery partner program by recruiting local businesses to join a hub-based delivery network in the Lynchburg and Roanoke, Virginia areas. You will visit prospective businesses in targeted towns, present the program, qualify interested partners, and guide them through the application process. You will collaborate closely with a Field Manager and other local contractors to drive referrals through community organizations and to plan and execute recruitment events. The position involves regular travel of up to two hours driving distance and offers uncapped commission based on successful partner conversions.

Responsibilities

  • Visit prospective businesses door to door in targeted towns within approximately a two-hour driving distance to introduce the delivery partner program.
  • Present and pitch the new program opportunity to business owners and decision makers, clearly explaining benefits and requirements to generate interest and applications.
  • Qualify prospective businesses based on program criteria and guide them step-by-step through the application process.
  • Lead applicant follow-up activities and manage the full recruitment pipeline within Salesforce, ensuring records are accurate and up to date.
  • Support the Field Manager in planning, coordinating, and hosting recruitment events in the community such as lunch-and-learns and town hall meetings.
  • Partner with the Field Manager to build relationships with local influencers and organizations, including chambers of commerce and economic development associations, to drive referrals.
  • Import Excel spreadsheets into Salesforce on a weekly basis to maintain data integrity and track partner progress.
  • Communicate professionally and clearly with prospective partners, answering questions and resolving issues that arise during the application and onboarding process.
  • Identify and solve problems for applicants in the field, ensuring a smooth experience and removing barriers to program participation.
  • Consistently raise the bar for the delivery experience by recruiting high-quality partners in complex last-mile scenarios.

Essential Skills

  • 1–2+ years of experience in sales and/or customer service.
  • Outside or field sales experience.
  • CRM experience required, with Salesforce strongly preferred.
  • Strong customer service skills with the ability to build rapport quickly.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills for pitching and follow-up.
  • Ability to travel up to 4 hours round trip distance on a daily basis.
  • Comfort working independently in the field and managing time efficiently.
  • Ability to work with Excel and import data into Salesforce on a regular basis.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • 1–2 years in roles involving sales and/or negotiation with customers.
  • Exceptional customer service and communication skills with a professional demeanor.
  • Prior field sales experience is a plus.
  • Demonstrated professionalism, enthusiasm for working with others, and a strong sense of urgency.
  • High attention to detail and the ability to troubleshoot and solve problems for applicants in the field.
  • Tech-savvy mindset, with experience working across multiple systems and technologies.
  • Motivation to earn uncapped commission tied to successful partner recruitment and launch milestones.

Work Environment

This is a field-based role with significant time spent on the road, typically 4–5 days per week visiting businesses and attending community events within approximately a two-hour driving radius. The remaining time is spent working from home, managing the pipeline in Salesforce, preparing for outreach, and handling follow-up. The position is based in or near Lynchburg, VA and Roanoke, VA, with one hire planned in each area. You will use a mobile phone and personal vehicle for daily work activities, with a monthly phone stipend and mileage reimbursement. The environment is fast-paced and community-focused, requiring professional attire when meeting business owners and attending events, and comfort working both independently in the field and collaboratively with a Field Manager and other local contractors.

This is a Contract position based out of Roanoke, VA.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $26.00 - $27.00/hr.
