Radiologist

Venesco, LLC has a new opening for&nbsp;three (3) Neonatologists&nbsp;to provide services at&nbsp;Walter Reed National Military Medical Center. &nbsp;&nbsp;This requirement, which is in support of the Department of Pediatrics, will be for Board Eligible/Certified Neonatologists to fill 3 FTE via coverage contract. This requirement will make it possible to maintain the Defense Health network National Capital Region’s only Level 3 NICU and support the following GME Programs: Neonatal-Perinatal Fellowship, Pediatric Residency, Anesthesia Residency, and OB-GYN Residency. This would also support the Uniformed Services University of Health Science School of Medicine medical students during their clinical rotations. The neonatologist will participate on a team with two to four neonatologists in caring for critical neonates 24 hours per day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year who are in born to WRNMMC or other locations, including military treatment facilities, outside civilian hospitals, or our own Operating Rooms after surgery.&nbsp;This is a great opportunity to make a difference in the lives of those who serve our country!

Core Duties:
While on service the neonatologist will be expected to teach and mentor Pediatrics, OB-GYN, and Anesthesia residents, along with and Neonatology fellows during each of the academic blocks (13 blocks in 12 months).
Contract Neonatologist shall be expected to function as a member of the staff of the WRNMMC Neonatal Perinatal Fellowship Program and Pediatric Residency Training Program and participate in resident education to include the following:

<li>Conduct formal Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) teaching rounds at least seven (7) days per week with on-service neonatology fellow and pediatric house staff on aspects of diagnosis and management of NICU patients and the performance of technical and procedural skills.</li>
<li>Ensure that progress notes, diagnosis and treatment plans are completed in accordance with Military Treatment Facility (MTF) guidelines.</li>
<li>Responsible for writing orders directly and/or supervising orders written by house officers.</li>
<li>Contractor shall become familiar with the hospital formulary. Contract physicians who are authorized to prescribe pharmaceuticals shall do so according to the availability of drugs listed therein. The pharmacy services will provide instructions to all prescribing practitioners regarding substitutions of generic drugs for prescribed drugs. The contract physician shall follow the procedures of the MTF when prescribing drugs.</li>
<li>Prepare and maintain proper medical records on beneficiaries to whom treatment is provided in accordance with MTF procedures.</li>
<li>Answer consults from other services within WRNMMC (i.e., pediatric subspecialists, pediatric surgeons, et al) in conformation with WRNMMC's policy guidelines.</li>
<li>Determine when the patient's status shall allow for discharge from the NICU. At the time of discharge, the Neonatologist shall initiate a discharge order and inform the outpatient physician.</li>
<li>Consider the opinions of other WRNMMC staff physicians regarding each case, and to make management decisions in the spirit of a cooperative medical team, and in the patient's best interest. For surgical patients the neonatologist will remain as the primary physician and the surgical team acting as consultants.</li>
<li>Maintain a level of professionalism by continuing to enhance their education and by participating in continuing medical education programs required by the DHA, State, Federal and peer review organizations.</li>

Qualifications:
