What You'll Do
As a Veterinary Assistant, you'll play an essential role in keeping our hospital running smoothly while providing compassionate, high-quality care to our patients.
Responsibilities include:

Assist veterinarians and licensed veterinary technicians during examinations, treatments, and medical procedures

Safely restrain dogs and cats for examinations, blood draws, radiographs, nail trims, and treatments
-
Prepare patients for surgery and assist with surgical admissions and discharges
-
Monitor hospitalized patients and communicate changes to the medical team
-
Collect laboratory samples and assist with in-house diagnostics

Assist with digital radiography and patient positioning

Fill medications and prepare discharge instructions under veterinary supervision

Clean, disinfect, and maintain exam rooms, treatment areas, kennels, and surgical instruments

Maintain accurate patient records

Stock medical supplies and maintain hospital organization

Provide exceptional customer service to clients

Work collaboratively with the entire team to maintain an efficient daily workflow
QualificationsRequired
-
High school diploma or GED
-
Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
-
Ability to safely handle and restrain animals of various sizes and temperaments
-
Excellent communication and customer service skills
-
Strong organizational and multitasking abilities

Positive attitude and dependable attendance

Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-volume environment
Preferred
-
At least one year of veterinary assistant or animal care experience
-
Experience in a small animal veterinary practice

Knowledge of veterinary terminology

Experience with digital radiography and laboratory equipment

Familiarity with electronic medical records
-
Fear Free® handling experience is a plus
-
Veterinary Assistant certification is welcome but not required
