What You'll Do

As a Veterinary Assistant, you'll play an essential role in keeping our hospital running smoothly while providing compassionate, high-quality care to our patients.

Responsibilities include:

  • Assist veterinarians and licensed veterinary technicians during examinations, treatments, and medical procedures

  • Safely restrain dogs and cats for examinations, blood draws, radiographs, nail trims, and treatments

  • Prepare patients for surgery and assist with surgical admissions and discharges

  • Monitor hospitalized patients and communicate changes to the medical team

  • Collect laboratory samples and assist with in-house diagnostics

  • Assist with digital radiography and patient positioning

  • Fill medications and prepare discharge instructions under veterinary supervision

  • Clean, disinfect, and maintain exam rooms, treatment areas, kennels, and surgical instruments

  • Maintain accurate patient records

  • Stock medical supplies and maintain hospital organization

  • Provide exceptional customer service to clients

  • Work collaboratively with the entire team to maintain an efficient daily workflow

QualificationsRequired

  • High school diploma or GED

  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds

  • Ability to safely handle and restrain animals of various sizes and temperaments

  • Excellent communication and customer service skills

  • Strong organizational and multitasking abilities

  • Positive attitude and dependable attendance

  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-volume environment

Preferred

  • At least one year of veterinary assistant or animal care experience

  • Experience in a small animal veterinary practice

  • Knowledge of veterinary terminology

  • Experience with digital radiography and laboratory equipment

  • Familiarity with electronic medical records

  • Fear Free® handling experience is a plus

  • Veterinary Assistant certification is welcome but not required
