We are seeking an HVAC Mechanic Apprentice (Union) to join our federal team supporting the Washington Navy Yard in Washington, D.C.(military friendly, but military experience not required).

As an Apprentice Mechanic, you will:
 
<ul>
<li>Primarily perform HVAC mechanical equipment service support, some electrical and controls work, and all other work coming under the labor agreement assigned by the Employer</li>
<li>Assists Journeyman Mechanics with more complex problems</li>
<li>Supports preventative maintenance duties on different types of HVAC equipment</li>
<li>Troubleshoots and resolves problems</li>
<li>Responds to basic warranty calls</li>
<li>Keeps Managers, Foreman, contractors, and the customer informed of job progress and issues as needed </li>
</ul>
Required Qualifications: 
<ul>
<li>High School Diploma or equivalent</li>
<li>Ability to perform general building maintenance</li>
<li>Self starter with ability to work independently</li>
<li>Valid driver's license</li>
<li>Ability to supplement on-the-job training with training provided through the apprenticeship program</li>
<li>Good verbal and written communication skills</li>
<li>Must be willing to join local union 110</li>
<li>The ability to obtain and maintain required government clearances and any other worksite specific badges. (This will involve a background/character, work experience, education, financial/credit and a criminal history records check).</li>

Preferred Qualifications:

<li>2+ years experience working with HVAC mechanical equipment</li>
<li>Familiarity with HVAC Controls/BAS systems (Direct Digital Controls)</li>

Essential Roles &amp; Responsibilities
<ul>
<li>Actively lead, coordinate, and prioritize environmental, health and safety management systems at a Regional or Corporate level to assure compliance with applicable Federal, State and Local regulations and with internal expectations and goals. Ensure company meets all compliance obligations.</li>
<li>Lead in the development, implementation and administration of contractor safety management program and review contractor's EHS performance to ensure work is performed in line with our company's EHS expectations.</li>
<li>Work closely with engineering and operations teams to ensure compliance with State, Federal and local regulations and internal policies, procedures and practices in our operated assets.</li>
<li>Prepare and deliver meaningful EHS information, performance metrics, analysis and reports at a Regional or Corporate level. Review data analysis and advise on continuous improvement in EHS programs. Review internal and regulatory EHS reports as necessary.</li>
<li>Identify, recommend and implement best practices and improvements to EHS processes including EHS SWP reviews and updates at the Regional and Corporate level. </li>
<li>Lead injury and illness case management efforts during incident occurrence. Provide coaching during incident investigation and support in generation of recommended corrective actions.</li>
<li>Conduct EHS prescreen of potential new vendors/contractors to ensure EHS performance aligns with SM’s expectations.</li>
<li>Supervise and provide performance management for staff. Complete Mid-year and Year end Performance reviews.</li>
<li>Stay appraised of new OSHA, TRRC, EPA, and other laws and regulations and their impact on our oil and gas operations. Guide efforts at the Regional or Corporate level to implement programs to ensure compliance with new laws and regulations.</li>
<li>Other duties as assigned.</li>

Computer/Software Applications
Proficient computer literacy. Is an expert in the application of common business tools (e.g. Microsoft Office Suite). Apply conceptual knowledge to environmental and supporting applications. Advanced ability to lead adoption of new and changing systems and applications. Advanced understanding and application of system support and data governance strategy.
Required Education:
<ul>
<li>B.S. degree in Environment, Health, and Safety field, chemistry, engineering or related science is required or equivalent work experience and training which included positions of safety leadership.</li>
<li>Professional Safety and/or Environmental Certification is preferred. Examples include BCSP certifications such as the OHST, CHST, ASP, or CSP designations</li>
</ul>
Required Experience:
<ul>
<li>Minimum of 10 years of oil and gas experience including 5 years of EHS experience required. Minimum 3 years’ management experience preferred.</li>
<li>Must have a valid driver's license</li>
</ul>
