Description\n

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Pediatric Cardiovascular ICU (CVPICU) position requiring 2+ years of PICU critical care experience and at least 1 year of cardiac experience, working night shifts at a premier pediatric facility in NJ.

  • 19-bed CVPICU unit caring for infants, adolescents, and pediatric patients
  • \n

  • Patient population includes complex congenital heart disease, post-cardiac surgery, cardiac transplant, and a wide range of critical pediatric cases
  • \n

  • Nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:2 or more depending on census, acuity, and staffing
  • \n

  • Specialized procedures include care for congenital heart defects (ASD, VSD, AV Canal Defect, TOF), Glenn and Fontan procedures, valve replacements, cardiac catheterization and ablation recovery, hemodynamic monitoring, and dysrhythmia management
  • \n

  • Additional specialty procedures include peritoneal dialysis, pre/post hemodialysis, lumbar puncture assistance, hydrocephalus/VP shunt care, chemotherapy monitoring, and isolation precautions
  • \n

  • Respiratory management includes ventilator care, BiPAP/CPAP, HFNC, ETCO2 monitoring, chest tube and intubation assistance, suctioning, and tracheostomy care
  • \n

  • IV therapy responsibilities include port access, blood product administration, central line care, PICC management, and TPN/lipids
  • \n

  • Epic EMR — experience required
  • \n

  • Night shift: 3x12-hour shifts, 19:00–07:30
  • \n

  • Every other weekend required
  • \n

  • Must work 1 of 2 or 2 of 3 holidays per unit needs
  • \n

  • Floating may be required to Pediatrics or NICU for appropriate assignments within the candidate's skillset
  • \n

Requirements\n

  • Active NJ RN license or Compact RN license currently in hand
  • \n

  • Required certifications: BLS and PALS; NRP preferred
  • \n

  • Minimum 2 years of PICU critical care experience required (hard requirement)
  • \n

  • Minimum 1 year of cardiac experience required (hard requirement); both must be documented on a skills checklist
  • \n

  • Proficiency in cardiac/PICU skills including hemodynamic monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation, telemetry, and Medtronic pacemakers
  • \n

  • Experience with pediatric medication administration including vasopressors, antiarrhythmics, anti-seizure medications, insulin, and pediatric dosage calculations using the Broselow system
  • \n

  • Epic EMR experience required
  • \n

  • SSN and DOB required for consideration
  • \n

  • Two current professional references required for consideration
  • \n

  • First-time travelers will not be considered for this position
  • \n

  • Former RWJBarnabas Health (RWJBH) staff (full-time or PRN) must have been separated from the health system for a minimum of 1 year before being eligible for a travel assignment
  • \n

  • Navy blue scrubs required

  • RTO and scheduling requests must be submitted prior to offer; no requests will be approved after an offer is made
