Job DescriptionPosition Overview

Our organization is on the lookout for a Transplant Hepatologist to join the Division of Gastroenterology, Hepatology, and Nutrition at the Assistant or Associate Professor level, either on an academic or master clinician track. This role offers a chance to become a vital member of a forward-thinking academic division committed to innovative and patient-focused care. The ideal candidate will be enthusiastic about advancing our hepatology and transplant hepatology initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Serve as an inpatient attending physician on the liver service at the M Health Fairview University of Minnesota Medical Center.
  • Conduct outpatient liver clinics at the state-of-the-art M Health Fairview Clinics and Surgery Center located in Minneapolis.
  • Engage in consultations and outreach activities.
  • Develop a clinical research program aimed at enhancing our understanding and treatment of liver diseases.
  • Actively participate in the academic missions of both the Department of Medicine and the Division of Gastroenterology, Hepatology, and Nutrition.
  • Provide educational opportunities for medical students, residents, and Gastroenterology fellows.
  • Benefit from ongoing professional development through educational conferences, CME opportunities, and collaboration with leading specialists.

About the Division

The Gastroenterology Division's general GI Section is expanding its clinical and research programs in areas such as IBD, esophageal disorders, complex polypectomy, the application of AI in endoscopy, and functional GI diseases. Our transplant hepatology section is recognized for hosting one of the longest-standing liver transplant programs in the United States. Additionally, the Division features a nationally acclaimed Advanced Endoscopy Section focused on ERCP, EUS, and the management of complex pancreas and biliary disorders. We are committed to achieving excellence across our three primary missions: patient care, education, and research.

Qualifications

  • Completion of an accredited ACGME Internal Medicine residency and fellowship training in Gastroenterology and Transplant Hepatology.
  • Board certification in internal medicine and board certification or eligibility in Gastroenterology and Transplant Hepatology by the ABIM.
  • Advanced training and clinical experience in hepatology and/or transplant hepatology are highly preferred.
  • Proven excellence in patient care, a passion for medical education, and strong teaching abilities.
  • Possession or ability to obtain a medical license and DEA in the State of Minnesota, meeting all credentialing and privilege requirements.
  • Eligibility to receive work authorization in the United States and maintain legal status as per VISA requirements.

Compensation and Benefits

This position is jointly employed by University of Minnesota Physicians and the University of Minnesota. The total salary is competitive and aligned with AAMC salary benchmarks. Clinical compensation, reflective of clinical responsibilities, is provided through M Physicians. The base salary range for this clinical role is between $397,000 and $435,000, depending on experience and qualifications. Additional compensation from the University will be based on academic contributions.
