Position Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented Quality Inspector with experience operating Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMM) to inspect precision machined components. This role is responsible for performing first article, in-process, and final inspections to verify compliance with engineering drawings, GD&T requirements, customer specifications, and quality standards. The ideal candidate has experience inspecting tight-tolerance machined parts in a manufacturing environment and is proficient with both CMM equipment and traditional inspection tools.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform first article, in-process, and final inspections on precision machined components.
- Program and/or operate CMM equipment to verify dimensional accuracy.
- Interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, specifications, and GD&T requirements.
- Use precision measuring instruments including micrometers, calipers, height gauges, bore gauges, thread gauges, and optical comparators.
- Document inspection results and maintain accurate quality records.
- Identify and document nonconforming products and support root cause investigations.
- Work closely with manufacturing and engineering teams to resolve quality issues and improve processes.
- Ensure compliance with AS9100, ISO 9001, customer specifications, and internal quality procedures.
- Maintain calibration awareness and proper care of inspection equipment.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent; technical education is a plus.
- 3+ years of quality inspection experience in a precision machining or manufacturing environment.
- Hands-on experience operating CMM equipment (programming experience is a plus).
- Strong understanding of GD&T and ability to interpret engineering drawings.
- Proficiency using precision measuring instruments.
- Experience inspecting tight-tolerance machined components.
- Knowledge of AS9100 and aerospace manufacturing standards is preferred.
- Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to work independently.
