Job Title: Mechanical Assembler

Job Description

The Mechanical Assembler will work across various departments to assemble and prepare metal components and panels using hand and power tools. This role requires flexibility, a willingness to learn and cross-train, and the ability to follow blueprints and measurements accurately while supporting production needs on 1st shift.

Responsibilities

  • Assemble hatches and panels using hand and power tools such as drills, wrenches, screwdrivers, torque tools, and tape measures.
  • Read and interpret blueprints to ensure accurate mechanical assembly of components.
  • Prepare panels for painting by installing insulation and hanging panels on hooks.
  • Package completed assemblies, ensure orders are filled accurately, and prepare products for shipment.
  • Cross-train in various departments to provide support and fill in as needed based on production demands.
  • Use mechanical aptitude to troubleshoot minor assembly issues and ensure quality workmanship.
  • Follow safety procedures and proper tool usage in a metal manufacturing environment.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area in a setting similar to an auto body shop.

Essential Skills

  • At least 6 months of mechanical assembly experience.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints accurately.
  • Ability to read and use a tape measure for precise measurements.
  • Mechanical aptitude and comfort using hand and power tools, including drills, screwdrivers, wrenches, and torque tools.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds on a regular basis.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Comfort working in a metal manufacturing environment similar to an auto body shop.
  • Reliability and flexibility to work across various departments on 1st shift.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience with mechanical assembly in environments such as automotive, metal fabrication, or similar industries.
  • Familiarity with torque tools and proper torque application.
  • Ability to perform basic mechanical tasks such as oil changes or other hands-on mechanical work.
  • Strong attention to detail when following blueprints and measurements.
  • Willingness to cross-train and learn new processes in different departments.
  • Comfort working with insulation and preparing panels for finishing and painting.
  • Good communication skills and ability to work effectively as part of a production team.

Work Environment

This is a 1st shift role in a metal manufacturing environment that is similar to an auto body shop and can be dirty at times. Hours vary slightly by department: in the EBP Department, the schedule is Monday–Thursday 5:30 a.m.–3:00 p.m. and Friday 5:30 a.m.–9:30 a.m., with overtime scheduled Monday–Friday 5:30 a.m.–3:00 p.m. (extended Friday shift). In the WBP Department, the schedule is Monday–Thursday 5:00 a.m.–2:30 p.m. and Friday 5:00 a.m.–9:00 a.m., with overtime Monday–Friday 5:00 a.m.–2:30 p.m. (extended Friday shift). The facility operates as a non-union shop. The dress code requires pants (no sweats or athletic wear) and a short-sleeve shirt or longer, and steel-toed boots are mandatory for safety

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Brooklyn Park, MN.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $20.00/hr.
