Job Description:
Aalis Management Consulting is seeking a Mandarin Research Legal Analyst to support a federal agency responsible for international trade enforcement and policy analysis.
This position is ideal for professionals with strong Mandarin language skills who enjoy conducting research, analyzing complex information, and producing high-quality written reports. The successful candidate will research Mandarin-language sources related to international trade, economics, industrial policy, foreign investment, and commercial activities to support government attorneys, investigators, and policy experts.
This is a fast-paced position where assignments frequently change, requiring intellectual curiosity, adaptability, and exceptional analytical skills.
What You'll Do
- Conduct detailed research using Mandarin-language government publications, news sources, corporate filings, academic publications, and other open-source materials.
- Analyze Chinese laws, regulations, industrial policies, trade practices, and investment activities.
- Translate Mandarin-language documents into clear, accurate English.
- Prepare written summaries and analytical reports for attorneys and federal decision-makers.
- Support investigations involving international trade, imports, exports, and foreign commercial activities.
- Verify facts, citations, and supporting documentation.
- Organize and synthesize large amounts of information from multiple sources.
- Present research findings in concise written reports and oral briefings.
- Collaborate with attorneys, investigators, economists, and policy analysts on time-sensitive projects.
- Manage multiple assignments while meeting strict deadlines.
Required Qualifications
- Professional proficiency in reading written Mandarin Chinese.
- Experience conducting research using Mandarin-language materials.
- Excellent analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
- Strong English writing skills with the ability to prepare professional reports requiring minimal editing.
- Experience researching complex legal, regulatory, policy, economic, business, or international affairs topics.
- Ability to quickly identify relevant information from large volumes of source material.
- Strong organizational skills and exceptional attention to detail.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).

- Translation or interpretation experience.
- Experience supporting litigation, investigations, compliance, or regulatory matters.
