We are a speakeasy located in Anoka, called The Hardware Store. We are a full craft cocktail lounge with live music 1-2 days per week.


Looking for an outgoing host/hostess that is 21+! We feel this is one of the most important jobs at our speakeasy. You are the customers first impression and with the knowledge of our cocktails can make great recommendations for first time guests and needs to be the most reliable. This is the reason we are paying $20/hr (this does not include tips - tips can be gained from guests and bartenders).


Hosting requires seating guests, taking reservations, working on a wait list, pretending we are a hardware store (but in reality, we are a craft cocktail & jazz lounge!), and understanding table management to maximize our seating capacity. We operate on the software system, Tock, and helps with reservations, waitlists & table management.


This position requires great reliability, a fun personality, willingness to help, understanding customer service is very important and knows how to have fun. We are located in Anoka on Jackson Street.


We are open Wednesdays to Saturdays.


We are looking for someone that is willing to work every 2-3 days per week that will include Fridays & Saturdays. We have another host who works some of the other days that you will be in a rotation with. We are flexible and willing to listen to your availability.


Possible Hours: Wed 3:30-10pm, Thu 4:30-10pm, Fri 3:30-11pm & Sat 2:30-11pm.


Your start time will be consistent, the end time can fluctuate within 30 minutes both ways, depends on closing duties for that particular day.


We do our scheduling 30 days out in advance, so you know when you are going to be working with plenty of notice!


We prefer an employee lives within 10-15 miles, but will consider all applicants.

We cannot stress this enough, we need full reliability for this job if you are scheduled, you need to work.


We would like to compensate for this reliability and importance of the job.

Additional details below:

1. Reports to work as indicated on the work schedule and in the correct uniform. Practices positive personal hygiene and cleanliness habits during all work shifts.

2. Correctly completes all opening and side work duties of the hostess/host at the start of the shift, in a timely manner.

3. Assists the Manager/Owner in planning reservations and assigning parties to appropriate tables, stations and/or servers.

4. Answers the telephone in a timely, pleasant and courteous manner. Correctly takes, confirms and documents reservations.

5. Immediately recognizes and greets arriving guests, obtains guests’ names, directs guests to the appropriate waiting areas.

6. Escorts guests to their assigned table, delivers and presents menus to all guests.

7. Controls the flow of business by practicing rotation seating, anticipating table turns and following the reservation and seating plan.

8. Maintains cleanliness and organization of the hostess/host stand and lobby area throughout the shift.

9. Practices teamwork by assisting fellow employees to enhance our guests’ dining experience.

10. Acknowledges all departing guests and invites them to return.

11. Completes all closing duties in a timely manner.

Physical Requirements

12. Must be able to lift, handle and carry trays, smallwares and equipment weighing up to 25 pounds. We have a door that can be a tad heavy at times and needs to be opened and closed with every table seating.

13. Must have a good sense of balance, be able to bend, kneel, stoop, reach and squat on a frequent basis to obtain and store printed materials, menus, cocktail lists and other hostess/host stand supply items.

14. Must be able to constantly stand and exert well-paced mobility for a period up to four hours in length.

15. Must be able to communicate effectively and listen attentively to supervisors, employees and guests.

16. Must be able to continuously use fingers to bilaterally operate the telephone and use point-of-sale equipment.
