For many people, gaining access to dental care isn’t simply a matter of finding the nearest dentist. Some may face language and cultural issues that keep them from connecting with dental providers. Others may lack insurance coverage, transportation or childcare that would make it easier for them to visit the dentist. JWCH works to assist patients with navigating barriers and helping them achieve better oral health and improved overall health outcomes.
Position Purpose:
This position is responsible for assisting dentists in the direct provision of primary dental care services to patients at the clinic. The Registered Dental Assistant (RDA) is also responsible for the sterilization, preparation, and inventory control of dental instruments and supplies, as well as ensuring proper infection control in all patient care areas. RDAs are vital members of the JWCH Dental Department and must contribute to fostering a team atmosphere, whether at their assigned clinic or when filling in at other sites. RDAs are expected to use AIDET as an internal and external customer service tool with both patients and JWCH staff. The JWCH Dental Department includes multiple clinics, and all team members are expected to collaborate in a positive and professional manner to deliver patient-centered care. Principal Responsibilities:

Education and Experience:

<li>High School diploma or GED certificate required.</li>
<li>Active Class A driver’s license required. </li>
<li>Knowledge of specific issues related to Oral Health Education for children, adolescents, pregnant women and chronic medical conditions such as HIV, Diabetes, high blood pressure, cancers.</li>
<li>Graduation from a California Board-approved RDA educational program.</li>
<li>RDA licensure by Dental Board of California.</li>
<li>Completion of 2-hour CA Dental Board-approved CA Dental Practice Act course.</li>
<li>Radiation Safety Certificate.</li>
<li>8-hour Infection Control course per California Dental Board guidelines.</li>
<li>Completion of AHA-approved course in Basic Life Support/CPR </li>
<li>Coronal Polish certificate</li>
<li>Bilingual: English /Spanish is required</li>

Starting in northeast Rochester, NY, Jordan Health has since expanded to become a network of primary care offices and health centers serving residents living in three quadrants of Rochester, NY and in Canandaigua, N.Y. 
 
Jordan Health is now seeking a Dental Hygienist who, under the guidance of the Chief Dental Officer, is primarily responsible for will provide oral prophylaxis to patients.

Requirements:
The Dental Hygienist will ensure to:
· Check patient’s medical records and heeds precautions as indicated.
· Examine new patient’s mouth and reports any abnormality to doctor before proceeding with oral prophylaxis, followed by X-rays that may be required.
· Take and process X-rays.
· Provide patients with topical fluoride treatments and application of sealants.
· Provide patient with dental health education on an individual basis
· Assume responsibility for the cleanliness and care for dental hygiene operatory, darkroom and instruments take morning inventory of supplies, and orders and restocks as needed.
· Instruct groups such as schools or churches on dental health education.
· Chart conditions of decay and disease for diagnosis and treatment by dentist.
· Contribute to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
· Reliable attendance in order to be present to maintain effective relationships and keep up with position responsibilities.
 
Education And Experience Required:
· Completion of a recognized course in dental hygiene.
· Mastery of dental procedures and techniques. Skill in working with children and medically handicapped. Ability to work with a diverse population. Bilingual (Spanish) abilities a plus.
 
Licenses And Certifications Required:
· Current Provider BLS/CPR through the American Heart Association
· Infection Control Certification.
 
Special Skills, Knowledge Required: 
· Mastery of dental procedures and techniques. 
· Skill in working with children and medically handicap.
