ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (include, but are not limited to, the following)
Under the supervision of the dental provider, assists with the following duties and responsibilities:
<ul>
<li>Assists the provider with routine dental checkups, screening patients, reviewing a patient's oral history and teaching appropriate brushing and flossing techniques</li>
<li>Assists and/or performs basic dental care tasks and preventative oral hygiene</li>
<li>Assists as necessary with extractions, including emergency extractions and/or urgent dental care</li>
</ul>
<ul>
<li>Responsible for taking impressions and/or molds of teeth</li>
</ul>
<ul>
<li>Assists the Provider with taking impressions</li>
<li>Assists Provider with anything they need for adjustments to crowns, bridges or dentures</li>
</ul>
<ul>
<li>Ensuring that sterile conditions are maintained</li>
<li>Providing dental health education about tooth care and diet</li>
<li>Prepare treatment rooms for patients by following prescribed procedures and protocols</li>
<li>Prepare patient by welcoming, comforting, seating and draping the patient</li>
<li>Provide information to patients by answering questions and request</li>
<li>Provide 4 handed dentistry</li>
<li>Properly handle, disinfect and sterile treatment rooms and instruments, according to OSHA standards</li>
<li>Protect patients and employees by adhering to infection control policies and protocols</li>
<li>Provide diagnostic information by taking X-rays, taking diagnostic models (pouring and trimming)</li>
<li>Provide postoperative instructions and oral hygiene </li>
<li>Maintain patient confidence and protects operations by keeping information confidential</li>
<li>Maintain supply inventory of necessary materials to function on daily basis (i.e. Don't run out of gloves, anesthesia...)</li>
<li>Maintain dental equipment according to manufactures instructions (cleaning autoclaves, changing filters, lubricating handpieces)</li>
<li>Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending continued education courses annually</li>
<li>Contribute to the team effort of accomplishing related tasks</li>
<li>Other duties as assigned</li>
</ul>
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Graduation from an approved Dental Laboratory program or and one year experience OR high school diploma (or equivalency) AND a minimum of one year related secretarial experience in the health care field or high school diploma (or equivalency).
