This position typically works at PHC West Side Clinic in Clive and is scheduled Monday - Friday 8:30 AM - 5:00 PM. This position is eligible for $5.00 per hour shift differential if you work a 3-hour shift either on a Saturday or after 5 PM on a weekday. Our team members are occasionally needed to cover other shifts, which may include a Saturday morning, or to work at other PHC clinics in Ames, Des Moines, and Marshalltown. Mileage reimbursement and/or an out of town travel bonus may apply.

Thrive Now Recovery Centers, in partnership with Ascension Recovery Services, is dedicated to assisting individuals on their path to recovery from substance use disorders and related behavioral health challenges.
 
We are seekingCertified Medication Aides (CMA)/Recovery Support Specialistto join our care team. In this role, you will work under the supervision of a Licensed Nurse (RN or LPN) to assist in administering oral, topical, and non-parenteral medications in accordance with physician/provider orders, state regulations, and facility policy. Your contributions help ensure safe, compassionate care for clients engaged in the recovery process.
 
Essential Duties &amp; Responsibilities
<ul>
<li>Administer medications (oral, topical, non-parenteral only) as delegated by a supervising nurse in accordance with Iowa Board of Nursing and Board of Pharmacy regulations.</li>
<li>Accurately document all medication administration in the EMR and report any errors or variances immediately.</li>
<li>Observe and report client responses to medications, noting adverse reactions or side effects promptly to the supervising nurse.</li>
<li>Assist in maintaining accurate medication counts, secure storage, and chain-of-custody procedures.</li>
<li>Support nursing staff with vital signs, patient monitoring, and basic care tasks as delegated.</li>
<li>Promote a safe, respectful, and therapeutic environment aligned with company Code of Ethics and Joint Commission standards.</li>
<li>Participate in mandatory training and maintain current CMA certification.</li>
</ul>
 
Qualifications
<ul>
<li>High School Diploma or GED required.</li>
<li>CurrentCertified Medication Aide (CMA)credential recognized by the Iowa Department of Inspections, Appeals, and Licensing (DIAL).</li>
<li>Completion of an approved CMA training program and successful passage of competency testing.</li>
<li>Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (or ability to obtain within 30 days of hire).</li>
<li>Prior experience in behavioral health, substance use treatment, or long-term care preferred.</li>
<li>Must pass background check and drug screen.</li>
</ul>

Work Conditions

<li>Shifts may include evenings, weekends, and holidays based on facility needs.</li>
<li>Frequent walking, standing, bending, and occasional lifting of up to 25 lbs.</li>

Essential Job Responsibilities
<ul>
<li>Responsible for providing services to each resident according to the resident service plan.</li>
<li>Assist residents with activities of daily living, including bathing, dressing, eating, hygiene, and mobility. </li>
<li>Monitor health, safety and well-being of the residents.</li>
<li>Document information pertaining to changes in residents’ functional status, personal needs, appointments, etc. </li>
<li>Maintain an accurate record of chargeable services and submit record to supervisor by the designated date each month.</li>
<li>Respond to resident emergencies; provide first-aid assistance and arrange for appropriate medical attention and/or follow up.</li>
<li>Launder residents’ clothing, linen and towels; fold and return to residents. </li>
<li>Assist with minor housekeeping of residents’ apartments.</li>
<li>Serve meals and bus tables during mealtimes as applicable. </li>
<li>Report on-the-job injuries to the supervisor before the end of the work shift on the day the injury occurs.</li>
<li>Encourage socialization among residents and promote activities, assisting with activities as requested. </li>
<li>Chaperone activities outside the facility when requested.</li>
<li>Maintain a safe, home-like, and pleasant environment for residents.</li>
<li>Practice safety in working around and with equipment, chemicals, tools, and utensils.</li>
<li>Maintain confidentiality of verbal and written information pertaining to residents, facility operations and personnel.</li>
<li>Attend regularly scheduled staff meetings and in-services</li>
<li>Other duties as assigned</li>

Education, Experience and Other Requirements

<li>At least one year experience as a CNA</li>
