JOB TITLE: Patient Registration Clerk 

FLSA: Non-Exempt
REPORTS TO: Health Center Director

INTRODUCTION
Under the supervision of the Health Center Director, the Patient Registration Clerk performs patient registration, schedules appointments, instructs and assists clients with regard to completing paperwork and clinic procedures, answers and directs all phone calls, maintains a professional and confidential working environment. The Patient Registration Clerk assists trained staff where needed and use of initiative, sound judgment and communication skills to enable efficient and effective use of the clinic and its resources.
MAJOR DUTIES/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
<ul>
<li>Controls the flow of patients in and out of the clinic.</li>
<li>Performs necessary registration functions to include insurance verifications, updating demographic information, and emergency contact information.</li>
<li>Serves as both a receptionist and liaison between patients, teammates, and staff.</li>
<li>Reviews all client related forms for accuracy and completeness of information, assisting the client where necessary.</li>
<li>Maintains a clean, organized, and safe working environment.</li>
<li>Maintains files and/or client database.</li>
<li>Schedules appointments, records information, and effectively communicates appointment schedule to client.</li>
<li>Measures key metrics important for advanced access.</li>
<li>Performs other duties as assigned.</li>

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
<ul>
<li>High school diploma or equivalent.</li>
<li>One year of experience in an office setting, preferably a medical office setting.</li>
</ul>
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
<ul>
<li>Strong customer service background.</li>
<li>Knowledge of medical terminology and insurances.</li>
<li>Basic knowledge of health insurance plans such as Medicare and Medicaid preferred.</li>
<li>Good oral, written, and telephone communication skills; Bilingual: English/Spanish preferred.</li>
<li>Ability to work independently or in a team oriented environment and interrelate well with individuals with diverse ethnic and cultural backgrounds and needs.</li>
<li>Basic working knowledge of computers.</li>
<li>Typing 40 WPM preferred.</li>

PHYSICAL EFFORT AND WORK ENVIRONMENT

<li>Must be physically able to sit, stand, and walk for long periods of time. Be able to bend, lift, and carry files from one location to another. </li>

<li>May sit for prolonged periods of time at a desk, or may use the telephone for long periods of time.</li>
<li>The office environment may be stressful with multiple, time-sensitive tasks to be accomplished within a short period of time.</li>
<li>Must be able to work independently with minimal supervision, be capable of making sound business decisions, and be detail oriented, alert and self-motivated.</li>

Autism spectrum disorder (ASD) is a group of developmental disabilities that can cause significant social, communication, mental health and behavioral challenges.&nbsp;
Although autism can be diagnosed at any age, it is described as a “developmental disorder” because symptoms generally appear in the first 2 years of life. People with ASD may face a wide range of issues, which means that there is no single best treatment for ASD. As a Behavior Technician,

You'll teach and nurture behavioral, social, communication, and daily living skills in a 1:1 setting to kiddos with autism in their home or at MeBe’s Learning Center clinic

You’ll relay info on your kiddos’ progress to BCBAs to keep them informed and assist with BCBA assessments.

<li>Attendance/Punctuality: Dependable and arrives to work on time. Notifies supervisor at least 30 days in advance for time off (excluding emergencies.)</li>

Education
High School Diploma, or equivalent, required.
Experience
Prefer one-year experience in a medical office setting.
