<li>Passes instruments and other sterile supplies to surgical assistants. </li>
<li>May hold retractors, cut suture, help count sponges, needles or blades if applicable.</li>
<li>Prepares, cares for and disposes of specimens taken for laboratory analysis.</li>
<li>Operates sterilizer, lights, suction, and other Operating Room equipment and diagnostic equipment. </li>
<li>Assists in patient transfer to PACU, if needed. </li>
<li>Helps clean and restock operating room. </li>
<li>Assists with any technical function under supervision of system to carry out a safe operation. </li>
<li>Preps, drapes and positions the patient for surgery. </li>
<li>Prepares for case according to Surgeon's preference card. </li>
<li>Gathers supplies needed and anticipates needs for case. </li>
<li>Assists in orientation of new staff when needed.</li>
<li>Actively participates in the development of a healthy work environment. </li>
<li>Other duties as assigned. </li>

QUALIFICATIONS
<ul>
<li>Ability to prioritize, plan, and implement patient care within the scope of their practice.</li>
<li>Ability to handle stress associated with prioritizing multiple tasks. </li>
<li>Needs manual dexterity to handle instruments. </li>
<li>Must be emotionally conscientious, orderly, and emotionally stable to handle the OR environment.</li>
<li>Has the ability to adhere to work schedule, be organized, manage time effectively and in a cost effective manner. </li>
<li>Above average organization skills.</li>
<li>Able to effectively work within a team.</li>
<li>Above average communication skills: verbal and written. </li>
</ul>
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE 
<ul>
<li>High school diploma or GED equivalent required</li>
<li>Surgical Tech experience is required</li>
<li>Eye surgery experience is strongly preferred </li>
</ul>
LICENSES AND CREDENTIALS
<ul>
<li>Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required</li>
<li>Certified Surgical Technician (CST) certification preferred </li>
</ul>
SYSTEMS AND TECHNOLOGY

<li>To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Amkai Charts Database software and Microsoft Word</li>
<li>Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook </li>

 PHYSICAL DEMANDS

<li>This role requires a variety of physical activities to effectively perform essential job functions. The position involves frequent walking (75%), sitting (50%), and standing (50%), with regular bending, stooping, and reaching (25–50%). Employees must be able to lift, carry, push, and pull items up to 25 lbs. Strong fine motor skills and full use of hands are essential, as the role demands constant grasping, writing/typing, and use of technology. Visual and auditory acuity—including color, depth, peripheral vision, and the ability to adjust focus—is required 100% of the time. Occasional driving or climbing may also be necessary. </li>
