Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) degree, active Pharmacist license, and minimum 1+ years Pharmacist experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.
A Clinical Pharmacist is needed for a two-week coverage assignment in August 2026 at a hospital in a scenic Southern California town. This inpatient role requires a professional with proven inpatient pharmacy and compounding experience who is ready to work a full-time, daytime schedule and provide on-call support after hours.
Location: Big Bear City, California
Job Type: Per Diem (two weeks)
Schedule:
- Monday through Friday, 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM
- On-call for weekends and after hours (infrequent calls expected)
Key Responsibilities:
- Verify and review medication orders for accuracy, appropriateness, and patient safety
- Prepare sterile compounded medications, including IV admixtures and unit dose medications (no chemotherapy or hazardous drugs at this facility)
- Respond promptly to emergency room codes as needed
- Ensure compliance with hospital policies, state and federal regulations, and sterile compounding standards
- Monitor patients’ medication therapy and provide clinical recommendations to physicians and nurses
- Maintain medication dispensing systems such as filling Pyxis machines at local family health centers
Qualifications and Experience:
- Active and clear California Pharmacist License
- Minimum of 2 years inpatient pharmacy experience
- Experience with software systems such as CSPI, Evident, or Pyxis preferred (training available if needed)
- Previous experience functioning as the sole pharmacist in a clinical setting preferred
- Willingness and ability to cover on-call hours
