JOB SUMMARY:
Direct supervision and management of Intake and Scheduling coordination staff and daily operations of the Intake department. Manages the Intake Department in order to achieve the goals and objectives of the Strategic Plan through overseeing all aspects of quality, service and financial functions of department served. ESSENTIAL FUNCTION
Management Responsibilities:

<li>Organizes and manages Intake policies and procedures to meet short-term and long-range strategic goals.</li>

PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Work is indoors in an office environment with moderate noise. Intermittent physical effort involving lifting of up to 25 pounds, walking and stooping is required. A typical workday involves sitting, frequent use of a keyboard, reaching with hands and arms, and talking and hearing, approximately 70% of the time. Approximately 30% or less of the time is spent standing. Normal vision abilities required, including close vision and ability to adjust focus.

Job Summary
RTC is a significant player in influencing federal and state transportation and recreation policies to support the development of trail and active transportation networks that promote mobility, health, economic vitality, livable communities, and environmental justice. Our strategy is to focus on making system-wide improvements to create safe, convenient walking and bicycling access to routine destinations so that people of all ages and abilities, regardless of their ZIP code, can get around on foot, bike, or wheelchair. Interns working with the RTC Policy team will have the opportunity to learn from some of the most experienced policy professionals in Washington, D.C., and from around the country, and advocate on the state and federal level for transformative policy on active transportation and trail infrastructure. 
This 12-week internship program begins in June 2025. Interns will have the flexibility to work 20-35 hours per week on a regular, consistent schedule.
Job Location
This position is located in our Washington, D.C., National Headquarters and is eligible for a remote or hybrid work schedule in accordance with RTC’s policies. A hybrid schedule is preferred (working every Tuesday and/or Thursday in the D.C. office). 
 
Job Duties
The Public Policy Intern will assist the Policy Team with implementing strategies to achieve favorable outcomes in federal and state legislative efforts necessary to make our vision a reality. 
Duties will include the following:

<li>Supporting RTC staff and assisting with legislative advocacy for the policy agenda </li>
<li>Conduct background research on key members of Congress to determine their records and previous positions on active transportation and trails.</li>

Essential Functions &amp; Responsibilities:

<li>Responsible for capturing, validating, and inputting data into the STS database for both the Thoracic program.</li>
<li>Assists with abstractions and entries into the TVT and thoracic surgery database.</li>
<li>Interprets/analyzes data to determine trends, identify causative factors, and determine opportunities for improvement.</li>
<li>Generates outcome reports with dissemination to appropriate committees, managers, service line directors and MWHC Leadership.</li>
<li>Ensures that all functions of the registry are met for each accredited program using the guidelines set forth by the Society of Thoracic Surgeons.</li>
