This position has the responsibility of creating a supportive, child friendly environment at the DVSC for parents and children of domestic violence, by providing crisis support, information and access to community resources.
 
ESSENTIAL DUTIES: CLIENT CONTACT: Accurately and efficiently complete all child intake forms and develop service plans with parents. Provide timely orientation to the childrens program. Provide appropriate counseling and services according to program standards to children and parents. Coach and counsel children and mothers sensitively about non-violent conflict resolution and offers assistance as needed. Assist parents in developing and strengthening positive parenting skills. Plan and facilitate support groups for children. Provide childcare and quality recreational activities for children during adult house meetings and support groups.
ADVOCACY: Serve as a liaison to the area school district and the Intermediate Unit, assisting mothers with enrollment and other school-related needs. Maintain on-going communication with other agencies and community resources on behalf of child clients.
PROGRAM DEVELOPMENT: Plan and carry out structured activities, childrens support groups, parenting groups, daily programming, and outings. Develop curriculums and obtain approvals for new programming. Follows and maintains established program curriculums. Develop and maintain a relationship with the Child Advocacy Network of PCADV. Skills, Knowledge or Abilities critical to this role:
<ul>
<li>Language Ability: Ability to read, analyze and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to common inquiries or complaints from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.</li>
<li>Math Ability: Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.</li>
<li>Reasoning Ability: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.</li>
<li>Computer Skills: Must be proficient with the Microsoft Office Suite, Internet navigation, database management, desktop publishing, spreadsheet, and graphic presentation packages.</li>

V. Job Requirements / Qualifications
a. Education / Accreditation / Licensure (required &amp; preferred):
<ul>
<li>Graduate of an accredited school of practical nursing program required.</li>
<li>Current/valid Licensed Practical Nurse/Licensed Vocational Nurse from the state licensing board required</li>
<li>Basic Life Support (BLS) or Advanced Care Life Support (ACLS) required.</li>
<li>Must have additional specialty certifications (if applicable).</li>
</ul>
b. Experience (required and preferred):
<ul>
<li>1 year experience in a clinic or acute hospital nursing setting required.</li>
<li>0 1 year Specialty clinic experience preferred.</li>
</ul>
