<li>Interacts with patients using cultural sensitivity.</li>
<li>Provides and documents high-quality and efficient medical treatment to Whitman-Walker patients.</li>
<li>Evaluate and treat all patients with urgent and chronic medical conditions.</li>
<li>Performs physical examinations and other preventive health care.</li>
<li>Records patient data in medical records in accordance with Medicare and other payer rules and requirements.</li>
<li>Code patient visits accurately using Medicare and other insurance standards.</li>
<li>Performs additional diagnostic and/or therapeutic clinical procedures as necessary.</li>
<li>Collaborates with external healthcare facilities to facilitate access to specialty and inpatient care.</li>
<li>Actively participates in educational activities related to HIV and primary care standards at Whitman-Walker and in the community.</li>
<li>Provides educational opportunities and is eager to supervise medical students, PA students, NP students, medical residents, and ID fellows at WWH.</li>
<li>Becomes actively involved in clinical case conferences and journal clubs.</li>
<li>Academic and other lecture opportunities will be available.</li>
<li>Assists the medical management in developing, reviewing, and updating medical services policies and protocols.</li>
<li>Helps develop new protocols and policies.</li>
<li>Ensures compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.</li>
<li>Primary contacts are with patients seeking medical treatment at Whitman-Walker Health.</li>
<li>Works closely with the patient care teams to provide the highest quality, collaborative health care.</li>
<li>Work is integrated between all WWH departments and outside agencies as clinically appropriate.</li>

Role Specific- Knowledge, Skills, and Talents Required:
<ul>
<li>Excellent knowledge of HIV, Hepatitis C, complex infectious diseases, and primary care.</li>
<li>Able to practice effective HIV primary care in accordance with guidelines and standards of care. </li>
<li>Able to provide culturally sensitive medical services to a diverse client population. Easily applies knowledge and sensitivity to gay, lesbian, bisexual, and transgender issues in healthcare.</li>
<li>Excellent educator and lecturer with in-depth knowledge of HIV, complex infectious diseases, and primary care issues.</li>
<li>Outstanding ability to mentor and educate students and residents training in the healthcare profession.</li>
<li>Knowledge of local, state, and federal regulations as they relate to health care.</li>
<li>Able to manage and delegate work in a fast-paced medical clinic.</li>
</ul>
Education and Experience Required:
<ul>
<li>Medical Doctorate or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine.</li>
<li>License to practice medicine in Washington, DC.</li>
<li>Board-certified or eligible in both Internal Medicine and Infectious Diseases. Board certification is preferred. </li>
<li>Ability to provide culturally sensitive medical services to a diverse client population</li>
