Duties
- Assist patients with daily activities such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility using equipment like Hoyer lifts or transfer devices
- Monitor vital signs including blood pressure, pulse, respiration, and temperature; document findings accurately in EMR (Electronic Medical Records) or EHR (Electronic Health Records) systems
- Support medication administration under supervision, ensuring proper documentation and adherence to HIPAA regulations
- Provide specialized care for individuals with dementia, Alzheimer's disease, or other memory impairments; implement memory care protocols and behavioral health strategies
- Assist with catheter care, wound dressing changes, phlebotomy procedures, and aseptic techniques to prevent infection
- Collaborate with nursing staff in an assisted living care setting
- Support patients in rehabilitation or post-acute care environments by helping with mobility exercises and ensuring comfort during recovery processes
- Maintain accurate medical documentation of patient care activities and vital signs; ensure compliance with medical terminology standards and privacy regulations such as HIPAA
- Participate in patient education initiatives related to health management, medication adherence, and safety protocols in outpatient clinics or home & community care settings
Experience
- Prior experience working as a CNA in diverse healthcare settings such as hospitals, nursing homes, assisted living facilities, or home health agencies is highly desirable
- Demonstrated knowledge of medical-surgical procedures, geriatrics, behavioral health support, and dementia or Alzheimer's care
- Experience with EMR/EHR system Eldermark, for accurate medical documentation
- Critical care experience in ICU or Level II trauma centers is advantageous
- Familiarity with infection control practices including aseptic technique and infectious disease care protocols
- Working knowledge of physiology and anatomy relevant to patient assessment and vital sign monitoring
- Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) is required; additional certifications such as phlebotomy or medication administration are a plus
- Ability to work effectively with individuals with disabilities or developmental challenges across inpatient or outpatient settings
