JOB SUMMARY: A clinically competent, registered, professional nurse who has demonstrated expertise in Labor and Delivery along with pre/postpartum care. Effectively delivers critical care to patients through the nursing process of assessment, planning, intervention, implementation, and evaluation. This position is responsible to provide timely, accurate and professional nursing care to patients and families in the department. 
JOB DUTIES:

<li>Provides quality care to all patients and ensures patient safety throughout the continuum of patient care, advocates for the patient respecting advanced directives and patient decisions.</li>
<li>Completes admission assessment according to unit policy, utilizing past medical history, therapeutic communication and physical assessment. Utilizes critical thinking and analysis.</li>
<li>Identifies accurately nursing diagnosis/collaborative problems to determine appropriate interventions within the framework of accepted standards of care.</li>
<li>Assesses the individual needs of the adult, geriatric, adolescent and pediatric patients and developing appropriate plans of care</li>
<li>Maintains accurate, objective patient records.</li>
<li>Ensures efficiency and accuracy of orders.</li>
<li>Assumes patient care responsibilities by organizing workload effectively and remaining flexible to environmental changes.</li>
<li>Utilizes departments equipment correctly and efficiently; demonstrates knowledge of special preparations or equipment needed for department specific procedures.</li>
<li>Nursing skills/competencies include but are not limited to: Assess, implement and evaluate education and nursing care for antepartum, intrapartum, and postpartum patients, newborns and other assigned patients. IV access, airway management, pain management, neurological assessment, fluid management, infection control measures, and respiratory management.</li>
<li>Communicates professionally and collaborates effectively with patients, families, co-workers, health care team members and ancillary departments to ensure patient centered coordination of care.</li>
<li>Demonstrated abilities to manage large volumes of multiple patient, family, staff and physicians' priorities within short time frames and organize workload; includes critical thinking, delegation skills and respectful communication.</li>
<li>Ensures plan of care is consistent with nursing standards and hospital policy and procedures.</li>
<li>Participation in performance improvement activities.</li>
<li>Maintains knowledge of The Joint Commission standards and incorporates the standards into the practice of Critical Care nursing.</li>
<li>Collaborates with and delegates to ancillary/professional staff as appropriate; assures adherence to their scopes of practice, considering licensure and/or certification.</li>
<li>Participates in professional growth and self-development activities to ensure accountability for own professional nursing practice.</li>
<li>Participates in staff meetings, committees and special projects; actively contributes to Women's Health and Birth Center's quality and development</li>

QUALIFICATIONS:
<ol>
<li>Registered with the Minnesota Board of Nursing. BSN preferred.</li>
<li>Equivalent of one (1) year LDRP experience within past 2 years.</li>
<li>Basic Life Support (BLS) certifications required and maintain certification.</li>
<li>Current NRP certification or attends NRP within 3 months of employment and maintains certification.</li>
<li>Completion of Fetal Heart Monitoring course preferred, or completes within 6 months of employment.</li>
<li>Demonstrated ability to follow and adhere to Grand Itasca Clinic and Hospital policies, vision, mission and values.</li>
<li>Maintains reliable and consistent attendance</li>
</ol>
 If no candidates meet the above requirements, consideration will be given to those with 1 year relevant Acute Care Hospital experience within the past 3 years or 1 year LDRP experience in the past 3 years.

Job Summary: The Nursing Station Tech (NST) serves the hospital patient population by providing constant overview of patient care area and monitoring of activity throughout the unit. Customer service, patient family support, and safety are primary responsibilities of this position. This position also includes clerical functions and specific patient care duties to facilitate efficient and comprehensive services. The House Supervisor/Nurse Director may re-assign to other units based on changes of volumes and acuity.
 
Here's what you'll do when you join us:
<ul>
<li>Monitor activity throughout the unit and nursing station while maintaining patient safety. </li>
<li>Answer and direct phone calls.</li>
<li>Answer patient call lights and patient safety alarms.</li>
<li>Apply monitor and report effectiveness to the RN.</li>
<li>Observe and monitor patients and complete hourly rounding.</li>
<li>Monitor patients identified as at risk for elopement or falls.</li>
<li>Monitor and facilitate admission of patients, visitors, and employees to the WHBC.</li>
<li>Maintain a working knowledge of Code processes throughout the organization. </li>
<li>Place identification on patients.</li>
<li>Maintain and order inpatient unit supplies and stick items.</li>
<li>Assemble and disassemble patient charts.</li>
<li>Assist with completion of birth certificate and facility worksheet information on WHBC.</li>
<li>Operate paging system.</li>
<li>Complete release if Information processes.</li>
<li>Maintain knowledge of and compliance with hospital safety, disaster and emergency procedures.</li>
<li>Clean and disinfect equipment as needed.</li>
<li>Initiates the cleaning of patient care areas upon discharge and prepare the room for new admission.</li>
<li>Assist in the set up and tear down of delivery tables.</li>
<li>Assist in room clean up after delivery.</li>
</ul>

<li>Must be 18 years of age or older. </li>
<li>Graduate of a Nursing Aide program. Certification and current listing on the Minnesota Nursing Assistant Registry preferred.</li>
<li>BLS Certification or ability to obtain within two months of hire and maintains certification.</li>
<li>Experience in an ambulatory or inpatient health care setting with ability to multi-task and manage multiple patient/family/nursing/physician priorities within short time frames preferred.</li>

Job Summary 
This position has responsibility and accountability for managing all aspects of Surgical Services daily operations. The management functions of this position include ensuring quality patient care delivery in accordance with professional standards, regulations and quality initiatives; personnel evaluation, assignments, staffing and scheduling; and ensuring patient care, financial and operational goals of the unit(s) supervised are met. Demonstrates clinical leadership that includes advocacy, critical thinking, decision-making and problem solving. Coordinates patient transitions across the continuum of care and makes shift-to-shift decisions concerning stewardship of resources.
Duties
<ol>
<li>Provides consistent clinical leadership to facilitate and evaluate delivery of care and associated systems in the unit to ensure that unit specific standards and regulations are met.</li>
<li>Coordinates and supports the House Supervisor and Charge Nurse for patient transitions across the continuum of care to provide a seamless transition for the patient.</li>
<li>Practices stewardship by using, promoting, and teaching effective and efficient use of resources.</li>

Qualifications

<li>Registered with the Minnesota Board of Nursing. BSN Preferred, or ability to obtain within 3 years, </li>
<li>Equivalent of two (2) years surgical services nursing experience, four (4) years preferred. One (1) year leadership experience with demonstrated effectiveness in management, leadership and quality/safety improvement preferred.
<ol>
<li>Incident Command Systems (ICS) courses: IS-100HCb, IS-200HCa and IS-700a certifications preferred or achieved within 6 months.</li>
</ol>
</li>
<li>Certification preferred in CNOR, CPAN or CAPA or ability to obtain within 3 years. </li>
<li>Knowledge of AORN and ASPAN standards and recommended practices are preferred. If no OR experience, Periop 101 course must be completed within 6 months.</li>
<li>Basic Life Support (BLS), Advance Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), Pediatric Life Support (PALS) certification preferred or ability to obtain within 6 months and maintains certification.</li>
<li>Certification in Sterile processing, or ability to obtain within 2 years of employment. If noncertified, will be assigned education through Purdue University or other accredited organization after a minimum of 400 hours of departmental experience in instrument handling, assembly, decontamination, and sterilization to help exemplify knowledge of the department. (This would be needed to be complete to sit for the CRCST exam.) </li>
</ol>
