 City Experiences is seeking a Marine Diesel Technician for our Hornblower Shipyard operation in Bridgeport. 
 About You: 
This person will be adaptable, dynamic, and embody City Experiences’ RESPECT Service System.
 About the Opportunity: 
This position works on and replaces marine machinery and equipment on commercial vessels.
 Essential Duties &amp; Responsibilities: 
·  Perform preventative maintenance on diesel engines and other machinery found on passenger vessels. This includes but may not be limited to diesel main engines, diesel auxiliary generators, water jet propulsion equipment, marine reduction gears, hydraulic systems for steering, cranes, and thrusters. ·  Heavy machinery maintenance and repair work including engine valve gear timings, injector changes, cylinder head and liner overhauls. This may also include machinery rigging in and out of vessels. ·  Water jet maintenance and repair while the vessel is in the water or in dry dock. ·  Vessel electrical troubleshooting and repair of generators, motors, control systems, sensors and related wiring. Also, low voltage and battery powered starting, control, electronic control and monitoring systems. ·  In dry dock repairs at the shipyards of the vessel drive lines, water jets, couplings, propellers, rudders, and shafts supporting shipyard personnel and/or the Production Manager. ·  Work alongside and support OEM service technicians. ·  Testing and inspecting installed machinery and equipment during dock and sea trials. ·  Provide accurate and comprehensive take-offs and material lists for repairs and overhauls. ·  Documentation and monitoring of maintenance and repair work through the company web based and structured maintenance and repair program. ·  Participate in computer-based monitoring and input of maintenance tasks, work hours, and company training and documentation programs. ·  Assisting the Lead Mechanic with movement and installation of Marine Equipment, Construction Materials, and tools. ·  Conduct yourself with a positive and contagious attitude for others to emulate. ·  Keep the (PM) and others informed about project status and issues that may impact client relations. ·  Travel to projects sites within US and internationally as needed. ·  Communicate ideas for improving company processes with a positive and constructive attitude. ·  Follows established safety rules and regulations and maintains a safe and clean environment. Work the hours and shifts assigned by the Production Manager. This may include weekend or evening shifts and occasional overtime. The Production Manager will make efforts to balance these shifts and occasional overtime with every employee’s need for rest, relaxation, and family time. ·  Additional job duties as assigned. 
 Requirements &amp; Qualifications: 
·  Must have experience working in the marine or construction field ·  The Marine Technician must have been or is currently being trained in a field that lends itself to the job of personally accomplishing motor vessel machinery troubleshooting, maintenance and repair. One or more of the following areas of training and expertise are required for this position. ·  Prior training and experience on motor vessels such as work boats, tugs, fishing vessels, passenger vessels, or vessels of the U.S. Armed forces ·  Diesel or heavy machinery mechanics from and trades institution, U.S. Armed forces, or other industries that require hands on repair of engines and engine related systems. ·  Basic computer skills as well as the ability to safely communicate with others in the English language. ·  Valid driver’s license ·  Ability to travel to jobs at different sites ·  Must thrive in a fast-paced environment

Marine Diesel Technician- Hornblower Shipyard- Bridgeport, CT

The Staff Pad has partnered with an established and rapidly growing Trucking Company and we are looking to hire Service Techs in multiple locations. 
POSITION DESCRIPTION: In a retail dealership environment,conduct diesel equipment repairs and preventive maintenance requirements;correcting vehicle deficiencies; make adjustments and alignments.
 
HLAs – HIGH LEVERAGE ACTIVITIES (focus actions that willreturn the highest impact):
1. Determines vehicle condition by conducting inspectionsand diagnostic test; identifying worn and damaged parts focusing on safety,quality and customer up time.
2. Corrects vehicle deficiencies by removing, repairing,adjusting, overhauling, assembling, disassembling, and replacing majorassemblies, sub-assemblies, components, parts, or systems, such as, power anddrive trains, electrical, air conditioning, fuel, emission, brake, steering,hydraulics; completes machine shop operations; making adjustments andalignments including bearing loads, gear tooth contact, valve mechanisms,governors, oil systems, control linkages, clutches, and traction units.
3. Embrace training opportunities maintaining certificationin OEM products. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND
PERFORMANCE MEASURES:
• Provide technical service to vehicles and equipment.Including trouble shooting, electrical and diagnostic services.
• Read Repair Order, observe and listen to vehicle inoperation to determine malfunction and plan work procedures.
• Perform general and detailed repair of all trucks, enginesand components.
• Overhaul gas or diesel engines.
• Install injectors, pistons, liners, cam shafts, cylinderheads, rod and main bearings, oil pans, clutches, fan hubs, differentials,fifth wheels, brakes, change or recharge batteries, and replace transmissionsand other parts.
• Examine protective guards, loose bolts, and specifiedsafety devices on trucks, and adjust as needed.
• Lubricate moving parts and drive repaired vehicle toverify conformance to specifications.
• Advise the Service Manager if additional repair work isnecessary.
• Tag all warranty parts and returns to warranty clerk.
• Maintain a neat and orderly working area, and properhandling of company tools.
• Follow safe work practices and procedures, uses safetyequipment when required, responds to suggestions for working safely and seeksassistance when necessary.
• Attend training classes and keep abreast of factorytechnical bulletins.
• Perform all other duties as assigned.
 
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:
• High school diploma or GED is required. Combination ofeducation, training, or experience that provides the required knowledge,skills, and abilities will be considered.
• Related technical school training preferred. 
• Three to five years of commercial truck technical serviceexperience.
• Engine certifications preferred: Cummins, Detroit,International, etc.
• Necessary tools to perform job responsibilities.
• Ability to work and learn independently.
• Strong written/ verbal communication skills required.
• Ability to use various windows based computer software.Experience with engine software a plus.
• Valid commercial driver’s license preferred.
 
PHYSICAL AND ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS:
Duties are performed throughout the inside and outside ofthe building(s). Employee is exposed to dirt, dust, heat, cold, noise andvibration, fumes and odors, wetness and humidity, and sometimes darkness.Employee is required to stand, walk, kneel, squat, crawl, bend, and twist.Employee may have to climb and/or lift up to and over 80 pounds frequently.Visual requirements are constant. Specific vision abilities required by thisjob include close vision and the ability to adjust focus. Due to the nature ofthe environment, employee is exposed to potential mechanical, chemical,electrical and fire hazards on a regular basis.
