We’re looking for a DevOps Engineer to own and evolve the cloud infrastructure that underpins our product - someone who cares deeply about reliability, security, and automation, and enjoys working closely with application engineers.
 
What you’ll be doing
<ul>
<li>Design, build, and operate cloud infrastructure on AWS using infrastructure-as-code</li>
<li>Own deployment pipelines and automate operational workflows to keep the team moving fast</li>
<li>Implement monitoring, alerting, and observability to ensure system health and rapid incident response</li>
<li>Manage and optimize production databases, including performance tuning, backups, and replication</li>
<li>Establish and enforce infrastructure security best practices across environments</li>
<li>Partner with product and engineering teams to support smooth releases and resolve production issues</li>
<li>Build for high availability, fault tolerance, and disaster recovery from day one</li>
</ul>
 
What we’re looking for
<ul>
<li>Strong hands-on experience with AWS in production environments</li>
<li>Proficiency with infrastructure-as-code tools (Terraform or equivalent)</li>
<li>Experience automating systems using Python or similar scripting languages</li>
<li>Solid understanding of PostgreSQL operations and performance considerations</li>
<li>Familiarity with modern observability tools (e.g. New Relic, Sentry, Datadog)</li>
<li>Strong grasp of cloud security fundamentals, including IAM and network design</li>
<li>Experience supporting CI/CD pipelines and containerized workloads</li>
</ul>
 
Bonus points for

<li>Experience operating systems in high-traffic or mission-critical environments</li>
<li>Exposure to Kubernetes or container orchestration at scale</li>
<li>Knowledge of additional scripting or systems languages</li>

<h3>Job Description</h3>
Position Summary:
The DevOps Manager will be responsible for leading the software development and IT operations functions within the company. This on-site position will oversee the design, development, deployment, and maintenance of custom applications and infrastructure. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in both software engineering and project management, with the ability to bridge technical solutions and operational needs.
 
Key Responsibilities:
<ul>
<li>Lead, mentor, and develop a team of software developers and IT professionals.</li>
<li>Manage the full software development lifecycle for custom internal applications.</li>
<li>Oversee and maintain on-premise servers, databases, and related infrastructure.</li>
<li>Coordinate IT and development projects from conception through completion, ensuring alignment with company objectives and timelines.</li>
<li>Collaborate with production teams and end users to identify technology needs and implement effective solutions.</li>
<li>Establish best practices for code deployment, version control, and system integration.</li>
<li>Ensure high levels of system availability, data integrity, and information security.</li>
<li>Facilitate communication between IT, production, and management teams to support continuous improvement initiatives.</li>
<li>Travel as needed between South Elgin and Genoa locations (majority of work performed in South Elgin).</li>
</ul>
 
Qualifications:
<ul>
<li>Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent experience).</li>
<li>8+ years of experience in DevOps, software development, or IT infrastructure management.</li>
<li>Proven experience leading technical teams and managing complex projects.</li>
<li>Strong knowledge of on-premise systems, databases, and networking fundamentals.</li>
<li>Familiarity with manufacturing systems or industrial environments is a plus.</li>
<li>Excellent problem-solving, communication, and leadership skills.</li>
<li>Knowledge of AS400, IBMi, or RPG a plus.</li>
</ul>
