The Residential College in the College of Literature, Science, and the Arts at the University of Michigan <a href="http://www.rc.lsa.umich.edu/" target="_blank">http://www.rc.lsa.umich.edu/</a> is seeking applicants for a full-time Lecturer III to teach courses in the Drama Program and to serve as the head of this program. This is a full time, non-tenure track position with a university-year appointment period beginning January 1, 2024. The Residential College (RC) Drama Program (<a href="https://lsa.umich.edu/rc/current-students/curriculum/drama.html" target="_blank">https://lsa.umich.edu/rc/current-students/curriculum/drama.html</a>) offers introductory and advanced courses in the history, theory, and practice of theatre. The program offers a major and a minor, in which students learn about and practice many aspects of play production from devising and design to acting and directing. Class sizes tend to be small. The successful candidate will serve as head of this program and faculty advisor to the Drama major and teach five courses throughout the academic year (fall and winter terms). These courses will contribute primarily to the Drama Program but could also contribute to other RC programs, such as the Arts and Ideas Program (the RC humanities major) or the First-year Seminar Program (intensive writing courses that satisfy the first-year writing requirement). Additional duties include participation in college- and program-wide activities. The RC Drama Program differs from other performance programs on campus in its commitment to socially engaged theatre, social justice, and community engagement. Some courses enable students to explore theatre in collaboration with local schools, prisons, or public-housing communities. RC Drama courses often integrate textual analysis and performance practices and teach theatre history by staging previously written texts and exploring applied theatre by devising original performances. Candidates in all areas of performance research or practical theatre are welcome to apply. Administrative Responsibilities The responsibilities of the program head for the Drama Program are listed below; these extend throughout the academic year. - Hold regular meetings of the faculty in the program to review and revise the Drama major and minor. - Oversee the course offerings and curriculum management of the program each year, including review of syllabi and course descriptions. - Provide academic advising to students enrolled in the Drama major and minor. - Interact with the RC Academic Services office to coordinate advising of students in the RC Drama Program. - Advise the RC Administrative team and Executive Committee on program needs and accomplishments. - Attend meetings of the RC Curriculum Planning Committee as a representative of the Drama Program. - Serve as faculty mentor to the student organization, RC Players. Expectations The successful candidate will have expertise and background in theater performance, including acting and/or directing. Established expertise in academic disciplines and performance appropriate to the years in the candidate’s field is expected, as well as expertise and background in teaching undergraduates in a wide range of dramatic literature. Requirements Minimum: MFA in a theatre or performance field; MA in Drama, Performance Studies or Theatre Studies, or advanced degree in an interdisciplinary arts program relevant to theatre. Responsibilities:&nbsp;

<li>Provide counseling care in an individual therapy format. Providers should be comfortable working in a brief therapy model Support alcohol screening and brief intervention that dovetails with the Academy’s conduct system Provide consultation and training to faculty and staff on issues affecting the social and emotional needs of students Develop and facilitate outreach programming in the form of health promotion events, psychoeducational presentations, or therapy groups, with a particular focus on substance use education. Flexibility to occasionally work outside of normal business hours to facilitate such events Related case management duties include coordinating with students, their families, off-campus treatment providers, and on campus support services Risk assessment and related crisis intervention duties Participation in a portion (maximum of 3 weeks) of Sea Term, providing counseling and programming aboard the Academy’s training ship Working in partnership with student-led organizations and committees which focus on campus wellness initiatives While rare, the provider could also be responsible for coordinating emergency psychiatric evaluations, including involuntary psychiatric holds (“Section 12”) with staff eligible to apply for such holds, or in coordination with other Academy clinicians and local emergency services Follow all related departmental and Academy protocols and procedures, including standards for documentation and</li>

Staff Assistant/Behavioral Health Counselor 

Position Summary
The Office of the General Counsel (OGC) currently consists of 16 attorneys working collaboratively to provide a full range of legal services to Columbia University. &nbsp;OGC is seeking an attorney to work primarily on employment related issues in connection with Columbia University Irving Medical Center (CUIMC).&nbsp; CUIMC is one of the nation’s largest academic medical centers, and includes the Vagelos College of Physicians and Surgeons, School of Dental Medicine, Mailman School of Public Health and School of Nursing. &nbsp;Experience in employment law is required. The ideal candidate would also have experience in a university or hospital setting or background in healthcare law. &nbsp;The Assistant/Associate title and salary will be commensurate with level of relevant experience.
Responsibilities

<li>Provide advice and counsel to the General Counsel and CUIMC clients on a wide range of faculty and other employee matters; Be responsible for employment related litigation and pre-litigation matters including: Support internal investigations and audits, Review and answer/direct subpoenas, and Participate in, oversee and provide guidance on mediation, arbitration, grievances and disciplinary actions, and collective bargaining;</li>

Develop litigation strategy and oversee outside counsel in litigation matters; Respond to inquiries on regulatory matters and advise on and support compliance activities; Develop, draft and interpret University policies including those related to CUIMC’s faculty and staﬀ; Prepare documents and review/negotiate agreements; and Support all University related legal efforts as needed.

Associate General Counsel (CUIMC)

Position Summary
The Office of the General Counsel (OGC) currently consists of 16 attorneys working collaboratively to provide a full range of legal services to Columbia University.&nbsp; OGC is seeking an attorney with corporate and/or transactional experience to work on a range matters of including:&nbsp; business matters, contract review, litigation, labor and employment, copyright, property acquisitions, student and faculty issues, and tax, among others. Although the role will be generalist in nature, it will focus on contracts/transactional matters at the outset and may be adjusted based on the experience/skills of the successful candidate and needs of the organization. The Assistant/Associate title and salary will be commensurate with level of relevant experience.
Responsibilities

<li>Provide advice and counsel to internal clients, including University leadership, on a wide variety of issues of critical importance to the University;</li>

<li>Draft, negotiate, and/or review a variety of contracts related to topics such as online educational platforms and executive education, educational collaboration and affiliation agreements, and MOUs; Monitor legal issues and trends affecting higher education; analyze relevant research, trends, and proposed regulations to make recommendations on matters affecting institutions of higher learning; Develop, draft and interpret University policies; counsel on issues of policy formation and application; Respond to complaints, demands, subpoenas and regulatory inquiries directed to the University; Conduct and/or oversee and support internal investigations; Manage outside counsel on certain litigation, investigations and audits; Work independently on routine legal matters while recognizing issues of institutional importance, taking proactive steps to resolve issues while keeping the General Counsel, Deputy General Counsel and internal clients appropriately informed; Effectively communicate to clients by clearly explaining practical solutions for addressing problems, appropriately balancing legal considerations with institutional programmatic and policy objectives; and Support all University related legal eﬀorts as needed.</li>
