Preference for Washington, DC or San Francisco.
Salary: $140,000–$260,000 + Bonus + Comprehensive Benefits
Direct Counsel represents an AmLaw 100 firm seeking an experienced Patent Agent or Patent Associate to join its nationally recognized Electrical Engineering & Computer Science Patent Prosecution practice.
This is an outstanding opportunity for professionals with 3+ years of patent prosecution experience who are passionate about protecting cutting-edge technologies in artificial intelligence, semiconductors, robotics, and advanced computing.
Key Responsibilities
- Draft, file, and prosecute U.S. and international patent applications.
- Manage patent portfolios for innovative technology companies across a diverse client base.
- Prepare high-quality patent applications involving:
- Graphics Processing Units (GPUs)
- Tensor Processing Units (TPUs)
- AI accelerators and neural engines
- Robotics circuitry and actuators
- Electrical engineering and software technologies
- Work closely with inventors and in-house counsel to develop strategic patent protection.
Qualifications
- 3+ years of patent preparation and prosecution experience.
- Bachelor's or advanced degree in:
- Electrical Engineering
- Computer Engineering
- Software Engineering
- Computer Science
- Physics
- Mathematics
- Strong academic credentials with excellent technical, writing, and communication skills.
- Prior law firm, engineering, or industry experience preferred.
- USPTO registration required for all candidates.
- JD and active state bar admission required for Patent Associate candidates.
Compensation & Benefits
- Salary: $140,000–$260,000, depending on experience.
- Discretionary performance bonus.
