Research Contract Grant Specialist

Working within a team, the Electronic Resources Librarian is responsible for the acquisition, receipt, maintenance, and renewal of electronic resources for the library. The Position: The Provost and Vice President for Academic and Student Affairs (Provost &amp; VPAA/SA) provides vital, creative, and adaptable leadership to the academic enterprise at Southern Oregon University (SOU). This position plays a key role in institutional planning and strategy, in forging community partnerships, and in advancing SOU’s presence in the region, state, and nation. The Provost &amp; VPAA/SA has a significant duty in representing SOU to the Southern Oregon University Board of Trustees, engaging with the Oregon Provosts Council, and participating in the Oregon Council of Presidents. This person is responsible for articulating a vision and direction for Academic and Student Affairs and effectively communicating that vision to the campus community. The Provost &amp; VPAA/SA reports directly to the president and collaborates with the other vice presidents to execute the president's leadership agenda. This position is also responsible for managing the operations of the university in the president’s absence.
The Provost &amp; VPAA/SA oversees all of the academic schools at SOU and the services that support them, as well as the university’s portfolio of student support and success services. Duties include, but are not limited to: foster creative thinking that builds on SOU’s strong tradition as a student-centered institution; guide strategic efforts to address issues related to student development, health and wellness, success, equity, and retention; address issues related to the review, implementation, improvement, and enhancement of policies, procedures, and program-specific services; and oversee Enrollment Services, Student Success, and Admissions and Recruitment to ensure efficiency in operations that drive enrollment growth that aligns with institutional goals.</li>
<li>External Outreach (10%) The Provost &amp; VPAA/SA partners with the president to implement SOU’s mission, vision, core values, and strategic directions in a manner that realizes growth that enhances student learning opportunities and positively impacts financial and economic development. <li>Accreditation (10%) The Provost &amp; VPAA/SA administers activities related to the accreditation and the external review of SOU and its schools, departments, and programs. This position ensures compliance with various academic disciplines and their respective accreditation agencies.</li>
<li>Budget &amp; Resources (10%) The Provost &amp; VPAA/SA designs effective budget models for Academic and Student Affairs. Society for the Humanities Fellowships
The Society for the Humanities at Cornell University invites applications for residential fellowships from scholars and artists whose projects reflect on the 2024-25 theme of Silence. Up to six fellows will be appointed. The fellowships are held for one year (August through July). Each Society Fellow will receive $60,000.
Fellows include scholars and practitioners from other universities and members of the Cornell faculty released from regular duties. Fellows at the Society for the Humanities are “residential,” and will collaborate with one another and the Taylor Family Director of the Society for the Humanities, Paul Fleming, L. Sanford and Jo Mills Reis Professor of Humanities and professor of comparative literature and German studies. Fellows spend their time in research and writing during the residential fellowship, and are required to participate in a weekly Fellows Seminar workshopping each other’s projects and discussing readings based on the yearly theme.
The nature of this fellowship year is social and communal—fellows forge connections outside the classroom and the lecture hall by sharing meals following the weekly seminar and attending post-lecture receptions and other casual events throughout the year. Fellows live and work in Ithaca, NY, and are expected to be in their offices on campus frequently. All applicants for Society Fellowships should share in this commitment to creating a supportive and intellectually stimulating community.
Fellows teach one small seminar during their fellowship year appropriate for graduate students and advanced undergraduates. Though courses are designed to fit the focal theme, there are no additional restrictions on what or how the course should be taught. Fellows are encouraged to experiment with both the content and the method of their seminar particularly as it relates to their current research.
Qualifications
Fellows should be working on topics related to the 2024-25 focal theme of “Silence.” Their approach to the humanities should be broad enough to appeal to students and scholars in several humanistic disciplines. Applicants must have received the Ph.D. degree before January 1, 2023. The Society for the Humanities will not consider applications from scholars who received the Ph.D. after this date. Applicants must also have one or more years of teaching experience, which may include teaching as a graduate student. International scholars are welcome to apply, contingent upon visa eligibility.
Application Procedures
The following application materials must be submitted via AJO fellowship #24897 on or before the deadline of September 20, 2023. Any other method of applying will not be accepted.

<li>A curriculum vitae.</li>
<li>A one-page abstract describing the research project the applicant would like to pursue during the term of the fellowship (up to 300 words).</li>
<li>A detailed statement of the research project (1,000 – 2,000 words). Applicants may also include a one-page bibliography of the most essential materials to the project.</li>
<li>A course proposal for a seminar related to the applicant’s research. Seminars meet 2.5 hours per week for one semester and enrollment is limited to a combined audience of advanced undergraduates and graduate students (capped at 15 students). The course proposal should consist of:

<li>A detailed course proposal (up to 300 words)</li>

PRINCIPAL PURPOSE OF JOB: Disaster Educator plays a vital role in providing education and resources related to disaster preparedness, response, and recovery to the community. This position is responsible for developing and delivering educational programs and materials to increase community resilience and ensure individuals, families, and communities are better prepared to handle natural or man-made disasters. The specialist will work closely with county extension offices, emergency management agencies, and community organizations to coordinate and implement disaster education initiatives.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:&nbsp;
<ul>
<li>Conduct needs assessments to identify community disaster preparedness gaps and priorities.</li>
<li>Design, develop, and deliver educational programs and workshops related to disaster preparedness, response, and recovery.</li>
<li>Utilize various teaching methods, including in-person training, webinars, workshops, and multimedia resources, to effectively communicate with diverse audiences.</li>
<li>Collaborate with other extension specialists and subject matter experts to incorporate relevant information and best practices into educational materials that extension staff may implement or utilize for programming.</li>
<li>Create and curate educational resources, fact sheets, guides, and instructional materials related to disaster preparedness and recovery.</li>
<li>Stay updated on emerging trends, technologies, and best practices in disaster education and incorporate them into resource development.</li>
<li>Ensure all educational materials and resources are accurate, evidence-based, and accessible to diverse audiences, including individuals with disabilities and non-English speakers.</li>
<li>Develop and implement evaluation tools and methodologies to measure the impact and effectiveness of disaster education programs.</li>
<li>Collect and analyze data to assess program outcomes and identify areas for improvement.</li>
<li>Prepare regular reports and documentation of program activities, including participation numbers, success stories, and recommendations for future enhancements.</li>
<li>Coordinate and work with extension staff, nutrition expertise, and other external personal to respond to emergency food allocation and distribution (utilizing mobile nutrition kitchen) to assist survivors</li>
<li>Partner with other disaster educators across the state to support disaster initiatives and programming</li>
</ul>

QUALIFICATIONS: &nbsp; &nbsp;&nbsp;
<ul>
<li>A master’s degree in a relevant field such as emergency management, disaster management, education, or a related discipline.</li>
<li>Experience in disaster education, emergency management, or related fields is highly desirable.</li>
<li>Strong knowledge of disaster preparedness, response, and recovery strategies, including hazard mitigation, community resilience, and post-disaster rebuilding.</li>
<li>Excellent communication and presentation skills with the ability to effectively convey complex information to diverse audiences.</li>
<li>Experience in curriculum development, instructional design, and resource creation for educational programs.</li>
<li>Proficient in using technology and multimedia tools for developing educational materials and delivering presentations.</li>
<li>Ability to work independently, as well as collaborate and build partnerships with community stakeholders and organizations.</li>
<li>Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously.</li>
<li>Familiarity with extension programs and the Cooperative Extension System is a plus.</li>
