Assistant/Associate Professor in Sports Media and Communications

The University of Rochester seeks an experienced, strategic, and collaborative leader to serve as its next Associate Vice President for Human Subject Protection (AVP-HSP).&nbsp; Reporting to the University’s Vice President for Research, the Associate Vice President is responsible for the staff, resources, systems, and policies that enable research involving human subjects, sustaining safety and compliance while advancing knowledge.
Key functions of the Office of Human Subject Projection (OHSP) under the AVP-HSP’s responsibility include <a href="https://www.rochester.edu/ohsp/rsrb/index.html" target="_blank">Research Subject Review Board</a> (RSRB), <a href="https://www.rochester.edu/ohsp/education/index.html" target="_blank">Research Education and Training</a>, and <a href="https://www.rochester.edu/ohsp/quality/index.html" target="_blank">Research Quality Improvement</a>. At any given time, there are more than 2,000 active research studies being conducted by approximately 3,000 investigators, across more than 100 departments, centers, and labs at the University and University of Rochester Medical Center. The AVP-HSP must be forward-thinking and proactive in considering the impact that evolving regulations and external factors may have on University-wide research plans, programs, and operations. They are the University leader in human subject-research risk-assessment and risk-mitigation discussions.
As OHSP is a University-wide resource, the AVP-HSP collaborates with research deans across the University as well as the Office of Research and Project Administration, the Office for Clinical Research, the Clinical and Translational Science Institute, and the Office of General Counsel. Alongside research deans from each school and key members of the Office of the Vice President for Research, the AVP-HSP is a member of the University’s Research Executive Committee. Rochester’s human-subject protection program has been AAHRPP-accredited since 2004.
The AVP-HSP must be a highly visible member of the University community and continuously engaged with University stakeholders, communicating and demonstrating OHSP’s commitment to being a collaborative partner with departments and divisions across the institution. The AVP-HSP ensures that the 14-member OHSP team is likewise knowledgeable, skilled, trained, and engaged in serving the good of the broader University community in thoughtful, thorough, and objective engagements.
The AVP will have well-developed and tested leadership and collaboration qualities, extensive research compliance expertise, and experience working with clinical, translational, and behavioral researchers. They will have the highest level of integrity and will demonstrate a track record of developing, mentoring, and supporting diverse and high-functioning teams.
Viable candidates will have at least 10 years of directly relevant experience, including in positions in which they had supervisory responsibility. If they are not coming from a peer academic or medical institution, they will demonstrate the ability to learn quickly and will have relevant research leadership experience with large, matrixed, and highly complicated organizations. A bachelor’s degree is required; a master’s degree in a field that entails working with human subjects and Certified IRB Professional designation are preferred.

The Department of Behavioral and Social Sciences at the University of Montevallo invites applications for a tenure-track position in history at the level of assistant professor, beginning Fall 2024. The Physician Assistant Program is a graduate program housed within the School of Human and Health Professions, which is grounded in the mission of Elizabethtown College: Educate for Service. Our program provides an integrated curriculum including the art of medicine that will provide students with a transformative educational experience that emphasizes purposeful work, cultivates personal strengths and develops a passion for lifelong learning.
Job Duties:
Successful colleagues will provide evidence of effective teaching and clinical work as well as be prepared to offer courses in both the didactic and clinical years. Primary responsibilities will be to didactic year students; however, all principal faculty will be fully integrated into the clinical year of the program and will provide graduate level instruction in all phases of the program. This position will assist the program director in the review, planning and development of the program. The candidate will participate in the accreditation process including ongoing course assessments, student assessments, remediation, faculty/staff assessments, program assessments, competency evaluations, accreditation site visits and data collection. This position actively participates in student recruitment and admissions (both undergraduate and graduate physician assistant studies) and student advising (both undergraduate and undergraduate). The position includes emphasis on service and scholarly activities for one’s own growth and development and the benefit of the institution and program. Candidates should have a strong interest in designing enriching experiences for students that foster community engagement, holistic views of medicine and deeper understanding of human behavior. The candidate is expected to contribute to an environment that supports diversity, collegiality, teamwork, and inclusive teaching approaches.

Physician Assistant Program Faculty, Lecturer

The University of Wisconsin (UW) Primary Care Research Fellowship is recruiting fellows to join the Fall 2023 cohort. This post-doctoral research fellowship is administratively housed within the UW Dept. of Family Medicine and Community Health and led by faculty from this department as well as from General Internal Medicine and General Pediatrics and Adolescent Medicine. The fellowship has been continuously funded by the Health Resources and Service Administration as a T32 for over 30 years, and typically supports 2 years of research career training.&nbsp;&nbsp;
A principal objective of the Primary Care Research Fellowship is to train primary care physicians and PhD scientists interested in careers in medical research related to the organization, delivery, or effectiveness of primary health care and preventive medicine.&nbsp;
Research project completion, published papers, and grant proposals are the main goals for fellows. The fellowship is open to physicians or PhD-level health professionals aiming for research-centered careers who could benefit from 2 years of protected time, intensive mentorship, and research support. Areas of scholarly focus should be related to primary care but are otherwise not restricted. We encourage fellows to aim for NIH funding, and our trainees have received K-grants, R-grants, or other prestigious awards.&nbsp;

Assistant/Associate Teaching Professor of Environmental Science 
The Department of Geography and the Environment at Villanova University invites applications for an Assistant or Associate Teaching Professor (continuing non-tenure track) position in Environmental Science starting in August 2024. We seek a colleague to teach in the environmental sciences to support the growth of the Department’s undergraduate programs. A Ph.D. in environmental science or a related field is required. Exceptional candidates with at least six years of full-time undergraduate teaching experience will be considered for the rank of Associate Teaching Professor. Opportunities for promotion to Associate Teaching Professor and Full Teaching Professor exist with demonstrated excellence and leadership in teaching, ongoing scholarly engagement, and a strong record of service to the institution. The position is a 9-month academic appointment, and the incumbent will teach 16 contact hours per semester (for example, one course consisting of three hours of lecture plus three three-hour labs per week, or two separate courses each consisting of three hours of lecture and three-hours in lab each week). Our new colleague will primarily teach the two-semester introductory environmental science lecture and laboratory sequence for undergraduate Environmental Science and Environmental Studies majors, and there is also the opportunity to develop and teach more advanced courses and/or courses for non-majors. Excellence in teaching is the primary responsibility of this continuing non-tenure track position.&nbsp; In addition, our new colleague will be expected to demonstrate continued scholarly engagement with their discipline, develop new educational materials, mentor undergraduate independent research, and participate in departmental and institutional functions and committees. A willingness to mentor students from a wide range of disciplines, cultures, and academic backgrounds is essential. We are especially interested in candidates whose teaching will contribute to the Department's commitment to diversity and academic excellence. The successful candidate will provide evidence of teaching effectiveness and compelling plans to develop student-professor research partnerships.
The Department of Geography and the Environment serves as a multidisciplinary academic unit linking the social and natural sciences within the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences and across the curriculum at Villanova University. The Department of Geography and the Environment offers B.S. and M.S. degrees in Environmental Science and B.A. degrees in Geography and Environmental Studies. The Department’s overarching objective is to integrate the disciplines of geography and environmental science to understand the spatial patterns of human systems and landscapes, environmental processes, and the effect of people on the environment.
