Job Description The Development Director coordinates activitieswith both the Executive Directo rand other program managers. Theincumbent creates and executes the implementation and messaging fora strategic approach to fundraising, which includes major gifts,annual giving, planned giving, and grant solicitation. TheDevelopment Director oversees all aspects of fundraising, includingsetting fundraising goals, managing fundraising timelines, andmonitoring fundraising budgets for income and expenditures. Incollaboration with the Executive Director and other staff, theDevelopment Director is responsible for raising $2 million or moreannually to sustain the Covenant’s operational and programmaticcosts. The Development Director may be required to traveldomestically as much as 15-20% of the time.
Responsibilities
● Execute a comprehensive and compelling strategy to expandphilanthropic support and further a culture of philanthropy; ●Identify opportunities to leverage the Covenant's uniqueness andexpand its traditional base of philanthropic support, employing theentire range of development tactics and strategies; ● Work with theExecutive Director, Board of Directors, and staff to develop andimplement a comprehensive, ambitious, and innovative plan thatexpands support for Catholic Climate Covenant;● Direct and expandall aspects of the Covenant's development activities, includingdonor cultivation and stewardship, annual and special giftcampaigns, and institutional giving from foundations; ● Lead theindividual giving program, cultivating relationships with existingdonors as well as identifying, cultivating, and soliciting newindividual donors, with a focus on major gift prospects; ● Serve asa major gift fundraiser, identifying, managing, cultivating, andsoliciting a portfolio of major gift prospects and leading byexample; ● Develop and execute effective donor communications andmarketing materials, including the development of compellingmessages that resonate with potential donors; ● Create donorrecognition programs and craft targeted appeals that drivedonations; ● Create short- and long-range plans and set clear,ambitious, but attainable performance goals for the developmentprogram; ● Work closely with the Executive Director and Board ofDirectors to develop fundraising strategies and goals that alignwith the organization’s mission; ● Work with the Executive Directorand Chair of the Board on board development while maintainingpositive relationships with the board that further philanthropicpartnerships; ● Collaborate with the Covenant's various boardcommittees to maximize their performance goals for the developmentprogram; ● Work closely with the Executive Director and Board ofDirectors to develop fundraising strategies and goals that alignwith the organization’s mission; ● Work with the Executive Directorand Chair of the Board on board development while maintainingpositive relationships with the board that further philanthropicpartnerships; ● Collaborate with the Covenant's various boardcommittees to maximize their involvement with the organization andits development program; ● Present fundraising plans andperformance metrics to the Board and work with the ExecutiveDirector to ensure that fundraising activities are aligned with theorganization’s overall strategic plan; ● Develop and oversee thedevelopment budget, track revenue, and manage expenses; ● Analyzeand monitor fundraising data to evaluate performance and adjuststrategies as needed; ● Anticipate, track, and adapt to trends andbest practices in philanthropy; ● Ensure that software systems arein place and optimized for donor and prospect tracking, research,reports, acknowledgments, and stewardship; and ● Track donorengagement and retention rates, analyze revenue streams, and makedata-driven decisions that help the organization achieve itsfundraising goals.
Preferred Qualifications
● Seven or more years of experience developing and leading atransformational major gifts fundraising program;Experience leadingand growing a fundraising program for a nonprofit of similar sizeand scope (budget of $2 million or more); ● A history ofcultivating, soliciting, and closing foundation and individualgifts with significant institutional impact; ● Highly effectiveinterpersonal, communication, and public speaking skills acrossaudiences and platforms; ● An ability to create powerful,compelling written and oral fundraising communications; ● Stronganalytic and strategic-thinking skills, and an ability to create,implement, and monitor complex plans and the ability to translateplans into concrete goals and measurable outcomes; and, ●Experience planning, leading, and managing development projects, aswell as reporting progress to senior management and a board ofdirectors.

PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES

Qualifications:

POSITION INFORMATION
Position Summary/Purpose:
The Washington Performing Arts Advancement team—a creative,lean, and collaborative collective of arts professionals—seeks anexperienced and dynamic Major Gifts Officer (MGO). Reporting to theDirector of Advancement, the MGO is responsible for growing thecorporate giving portfolio, cultivating diplomatic and governmentrelationships, and managing Washington Performing Arts Board andJunior Board pipelines in support of the organization’s mission,vision, and growth.
