Charlotte, NC (Hybrid) | Full-Time | $235,000 - $360,000 + Bonus | Relocation Assistance Available | No Visa Sponsorship

About the Opportunity

A respected law firm client is expanding its Bankruptcy & Restructuring practice in Charlotte and seeks a mid-level associate with strong experience in Chapter 11 matters, distressed transactions, and corporate restructuring. This role offers sophisticated work, meaningful client interaction, and a clear path for long-term professional growth.

Key Responsibilities

  • Advise clients on Chapter 11 proceedings, corporate restructurings, workouts, and insolvency matters.
  • Represent lenders, creditors, debtors, private equity sponsors, and distressed investors.
  • Draft and negotiate restructuring support agreements, financing documents, and transactional materials.
  • Support distressed M&A, financial services transactions, and strategic corporate matters.
  • Conduct legal analysis related to bankruptcy, insolvency, creditors' rights, and restructuring strategies.
  • Collaborate with attorneys across bankruptcy, finance, corporate, and M&A practices.
  • Manage multiple sophisticated matters while providing practical, business-focused legal advice.

Qualifications

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited U.S. law school.
  • 2–6 years of experience in bankruptcy, restructuring, insolvency, finance, or corporate transactions.
  • Strong drafting, negotiation, analytical, and communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple complex matters in a fast-paced environment.
  • Licensed in North Carolina or eligible for admission.

Preferred:

  • Experience at an Am Law 200 or highly regarded regional firm.
  • Background in Chapter 11 proceedings, distressed M&A, financial services transactions, or creditors' rights.
  • Judicial clerkship in bankruptcy or a related court.
  • Strong academic credentials.


Compensation & Benefits

  • Salary range: $235,000–$360,000, plus performance-based bonus.
