Job Description

Job Description

Step into a dynamic teaching environment as a Special Education Science educator for the upcoming 2026-2027 school year. This full-time contract role focuses on delivering engaging 9th grade biology and 10th grade chemistry instruction to high school students, blending both self-contained and co-teaching opportunities to best support diverse learning needs.

Your expertise in Special Education will be vital as you facilitate science learning for students who benefit from individualized instruction, all while collaborating with skilled general education teachers for inclusive co-teaching experiences. Say goodbye to case management responsibilities and immerse yourself in direct classroom impact.

Key Qualifications:

  • Valid Special Education certification with secondary science (biology and chemistry) experience
  • Strong understanding of IEP implementation for high school students
  • Ability to differentiate instruction and adapt lessons for varied learning profiles
  • Excellent collaboration skills for co-teaching and interdisciplinary teamwork
  • Enthusiastic approach to fostering a supportive, positive classroom culture

Core Responsibilities:

  • Deliver engaging science lessons customized for students with a range of special needs
  • Maintain a positive and inclusive classroom environment focused on student growth
  • Collaborate with general education teachers to deliver co-taught science classes
  • Assess and monitor student progress, providing ongoing support and encouragement
  • Participate in department meetings and professional development activities

This contract position offers the unique blend of specialized science teaching and teamwork, allowing you to concentrate on what you love—making a difference in students’ lives through meaningful instruction. Located just outside of vibrant Washington, DC, this is a fantastic opportunity to develop your teaching practice and impact high school learners.

If you’re ready to inspire students and contribute your skills in a high school special education science setting, apply now to help shape the next generation of biology and chemistry thinkers!

Compensation for this position ranges from $24.82 to $47.82. Eligible candidates may also receive healthcare benefits, housing, and meals/incidentals. Full details of our healthcare benefits plan can be found here. This posting is open for 60 days after the posting date.
