Job Description
The Junior Project Engineer will support the engineering, production, and project management teams throughout the life cycle of fabrication projects. This role is ideal for a recent Mechanical Engineering graduate or someone with 1-3 years of experience who wants exposure to real-world manufacturing, engineering review, procurement, quality control, and customer projects.
The successful candidate will work directly with experienced leadership and play a critical role in helping projects move from award through delivery.
Responsibilities
Engineering & Technical Support
- Review project specifications, plans, and contract documents
- Assist with shop drawing and submittal review
- Coordinate engineering documentation between customers, vendors, and internal teams
- Support technical reviews of fabrication and design requirements
- Help maintain project records and drawing revisions
Purchasing & Procurement
- Generate and track purchase orders
- Solicit and compare supplier quotations
- Follow up with vendors regarding material availability and delivery schedules
- Maintain material tracking logs and procurement documentation
Production & Project Coordination
- Assist in monitoring project schedules and production milestones
- Coordinate communication between engineering, production, sales, and customers
- Help manage project documentation from award through completion
- Track critical action items and follow up to ensure deadlines are met
Quality Assurance & Documentation
- Maintain manufacturing quality records and documentation
- Review inspection reports and fabrication documentation for completeness
- Support customer submittals and closeout packages
- Assist with regulatory, ASME, UL, and customer documentation requirements
Qualifications
Required
- Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or related technical field
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite
Preferred
- 0-3 years of engineering or manufacturing experience
- Familiarity with AutoCAD, SolidWorks, or similar CAD software
- Exposure to manufacturing, fabrication, construction, or industrial environments
- Experience with project coordination, purchasing, or quality systems
