POSITION DETAILS
Founded in 1971 in Long Island City, Queens, LaGuardia Community College is one of seven community colleges of the City University of New York/CUNY. LaGuardia offers more than sixty associate degree and certificate programs, as well as dozens of workforce training, ESOL, GED, and pre-college programs. In 2023, LaGuardia served approximately 25,000 students. More than one-third of our degree-seeking students were born outside of the United States, coming to LaGuardia from 136 countries and speaking forty-three heritage languages. More than half are first-generation college students. Sixty-nine percent live in Queens; the rest live in Brooklyn and beyond. Approximately two-thirds of our degree students receive financial aid. Reporting to the Dean for Institutional Effectiveness, the Institutional Research Manager will support&nbsp;the College’s planning, evaluation, analytical research, data visualization and presentation, and institutional effectiveness. The Institutional Research Manager collects, develops, analyzes, creates relevant data dashboards and communicates institutional outcome data, including retention, graduation, transfers, course level outcomes, enrollment information. Consults on a wide range of institutional data and assessment activities and coordinates reporting with the Dean for Institutional Effectiveness. Supports and enhances informed decision-making, problem solving, strategic planning and institutional self-assessment. In addition, the Institutional Research Manager will be responsible for, but not limited to, the following:
<ul>
<li>Performs applied research and designs, executes and evaluates wide-ranging analytical and statistical studies focusing on a wide range of educational outcomes</li>
<li>Supports of enrollment management reporting and analysis</li>
<li>Develops and produces assessment tools, mainly a large range of student outcomes dashboards to guide administrators, faculty and staff members with evaluation, planning and assessment at the institution, departments, programs and course levels</li>
<li>Supports the evaluation of&nbsp;Federal, State, CUNY Central Office, and Foundation-funded&nbsp;grants focusing on enhancing student success, by providing relevant data, assessing the results, and producing the necessary analysis.</li>
<li>Develops and produces relevant, timely and accurate institutional information for college faculty, administrators and the College community at large</li>
<li>Supports and integrates university and college planning efforts within institutional research, policy analysis and outcome assessment&nbsp;</li>
<li>Conducts and/or advises on data mining, statistical analysis and interpretation of results</li>
<li>Assist in developing and maintaining accessible, relational databases for the use of the Office</li>
<li>Represent the department on committees and task forces, as assigned, represents the department on state and national conferences</li>
</ul>
QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's Degree and six years' relevant experience required.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
<ul>
<li>Master’s degree or advanced degree in a research related field and full-time experience in research related position, is preferred;&nbsp;</li>
<li>Proven understanding of higher education issues and higher education research, particularly in the area of enrollment management, and institutional outcomes;</li>
<li>Knowledge of strategic planning, academic assessment concepts and experience with supporting program evaluation;</li>
<li>Advanced knowledge of SQL, including complex high-level programming;</li>
<li>Advanced knowledge of the Office packages, especially Access and Excel;</li>
<li>Advanced knowledge of statistical packages, preferably SPSS;</li>
<li>Advanced knowledge of Tableau, Including a Tableau certificate;</li>
<li>Data management – manipulation, construction and maintenance of large data sets;</li>
<li>The ability to understand complex research questions and the knowledge to create the queries and programs necessary to get the data and explain the results;</li>
<li>The ability to guide faculty and staff with the understanding and application of institutional dashboards to maximize their usage and effectiveness;</li>
<li>Advanced statistics including multiple linear regression, logistic regression, factor analysis, and predictive analytics;</li>
<li>Strong writing skills experience especially with data presentation and analysis;</li>
<li>In-depth expertise in the databases of student level enrollment, demographics, academic performance, and retention and graduation outcomes;</li>
<li>Advanced knowledge of the CUNYfirst databases;</li>
<li>Advanced knowledge of the CUNY student level data, course level CUNY, enrollment, retention, graduation, transfer, and grade distribution data and databases;</li>
<li>Ability to create and update dashboards that support strategic planning, accreditation, academic program reviews, grants proposals and evaluations;</li>
<li>Grant evaluation reports and documentations including the ability to extract the relevant data to present evaluation information;</li>
<li>The ability to collaborate with college administrators, grant Principal Investigators, and institutional stakeholders in the design, implementation, evaluation, and reporting on student success initiatives.</li>

What do you need for this position?

* Neurology experience is preferred
* Clinical educator experience within the pharmaceutical industry advantageous but not essential
* Excellent professional communication and presentation skills required
* Ability to present to various groups including physicians, nurses, and other office staff
* Self-starter with high personal motivation
* Demonstrate organizational skills and/or have previous territory management experience
* Willingness to travel up to 75% as needed within designated territory, attend regional/national meetings, and assist with coverage needs where able
