Make a difference in the lives of young learners as a Special Education Teacher supporting K-5th grade students with Autism Spectrum Disorder needs. This contract opportunity offers two openings at a single school site near Naval Anacost Annex, DC. Work collaboratively with dedicated leadership and enjoy a consistent Monday–Friday daytime schedule aligned with the school calendar.
Key Qualifications:
- Experience teaching students with Autism Spectrum Disorder in elementary (K-5) settings
- Passion for creating a supportive, inclusive classroom environment
- Strong communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills
- Commitment to individualized instruction and differentiated classroom strategies
Role Responsibilities:
- Provide direct instruction to students with special education needs, following individualized education plans (IEPs)
- Adapt curriculum and instructional techniques to meet diverse student needs
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation of progress and communication with families
- Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team of educators, paraprofessionals, and specialists
- Participate in professional development sessions, preservice training, and ongoing workshops
- Foster positive relationships with students and help build their confidence, independence, and academic skills
Position Details:
- Workday: Monday–Friday, 8am–4pm (school calendar applies)
- Caseload: 8–10 elementary students per teacher
- Term: Begins with preservice training from August 10-21, 2026; student start date is August 24, 2026; continues through June 23, 2027
- Interview scheduling is flexible and arranged directly with school leaders
