Job DescriptionDescription:

National Cathedral School seeks an administrative assistant to the Head of Middle School (Grades 7-8) who believes in the power of young women and is dedicated to nurturing their curiosity and potential. This temporary position (August 10 - October 16) will provide direct administrative and clerical support to the Head of Middle School and assists with daily oversight of the Middle School.


The ideal candidate:

  • Joy in working with children and understanding of the middle school years.
  • Exceptional organizational and interpersonal skills, coupled with excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • A high level of energy and the ability to multitask and prioritize work.
  • Creative problem-solving skills and the ability to work collaboratively and independently, while having the judgment to seek direction.
  • Comfort with technology and learning new systems or software as needed.
  • Ability to work successfully with children, administrators, co-workers, parents, and all stakeholders in a fast-paced, innovative environment.

The ideal candidate will be warm, energetic, well-spoken, and flexible, able to maintain calm and present well in challenging situations and have a welcoming presence that puts guests at ease when visiting.


Responsibilities include:

  • Providing direct administrative and clerical support to the Head of Middle School and the Middle School team.
  • Sharing leadership for efficient and professional management of daily operations.
  • Manages the Head of Middle School’s professional calendar, the daily student attendance process, develops the weekly parent bulletin and daily oversight of the Middle School.
  • Working closely with the Head of Middle School on short and long term projects,
  • Maintaining strong communication with families, as the assistant is often the first point of contact with teachers, families and students, and, thus, is a vital part of fulfilling the school’s mission.

Salary and Benefits:

The hourly rate for the role is $30 an hour. Benefits available include free parking or transit benefits and lunch without charge.
