Position Overview
 
Reporting directly to the Executive Director, the Director of Arts Education is EPACENTER’s strategic leader for learning design, learner engagement, and instructional quality focused on the arts. The role oversees the full life cycle of educational operations for participants of every age, including the establishment of class calendars, the onboarding and supervising of teaching artists, and the alignment of youth programs with Creative Youth Development principles. The position also designs and leads professional learning development for emerging arts educators (21+), providing them with the knowledge, credentials, and mentoring support required to excel in community-based creative learning environments and meet apprenticeship or vocational standards, if applicable.
 
The Director of Arts Education collaborates closely with the Directors of Visual Arts &amp; Public Programs and Performing Arts &amp; Public Programs, as well as the Director of Production, to translate artistic vision into learner-centered experiences that meet the highest standards of safety, equity, and fiscal stewardship.
 
Key Responsibilities

<li>Education Strategy &amp; Curriculum: Develop annual education strategy, curriculum frameworks, and program calendars across all age cohorts (K–12, young adults, adults, and seniors). Ensure compliance with applicable laws and policies (mandated reporter, ADA, privacy, and other education-related requirements).</li>

Qualifications

<li>Minimum ten years of progressively responsible experience in arts education management or community arts learning, with at least five years in a senior or department head role.</li>
<li>Experience designing educational programs in the arts for youth and adults of all ages.</li>
<li>Demonstrated expertise in curriculum design in the arts, instructor supervision, budget control, and multi-site or multi-venue scheduling.</li>

Basic Job Purpose: The Youth Programs Substitute is responsible for maintaining a warm, healthy environment to promote the total growth and well-being of the children in the early education program as well as our Child Watch and Children’s Waiting room programs.   The Youth Programs Substitute roll is to sub in program areas as needed. This role will have the responsibility of assisting the teacher as a team member in the daily operation of their classroom, child watch, or children’s waiting room program by maintaining quality early childhood education and care for all participants and insuring compliance in all state regulations and DOD Standards. This position is as needed to assist with programs.
Functions and Duties:
· Assist the teacher in implementation of daily schedule and curriculum with attention to the needs of the children, including quality, health, safety, and cleanliness of environment beyond minimum regulations and requirements.
· Be prepared to participate in all children’s activities, including but not limited to classroom activities, field trips, outdoor play, swim, gym, and family or special organizational events.
· Sustain nurturing and responsive interactions with children.

Job Description
Position: Head Start Teacher
Program and Location: Head Start, McCook
Position Summary: The Teacher is responsible for direct contact with children in the classroom, providing developmentally appropriate activities on a daily basis, challenging them at their level, and encouraging success for all students. The Teacher also provides a safe, pleasant, active learning and problem-solving environment.
Responsibilities:
<ul>
<li>Provide experiences that advance the intellectual and physical development of children, establish and maintain a safe, healthy learning environment, and support the social and emotional development of children.</li>
<li>Ensure implementation of the High Scope curriculum which includes active learning and practices that are developmentally appropriate.</li>
<li>Ensure initial and mid-year home visits, along with two parent/staff conferences are complete.</li>
<li>Ensure classroom management and lesson planning/implementation.</li>
<li>Recruit, maintain, and train classroom volunteers throughout the program year.</li>
<li>Ensure implementation of oral health practices.</li>
<li>Be actively engaged in all Head Start activities and model appropriate behavior.</li>
</ul>
Tasks and Duties:
<ul>
<li>Train and mentor classroom staff.</li>
<li>Track daily attendance.</li>
<li>Ensure completion of developmental and social emotional screenings.</li>
<li>Ensure speech screenings and child growth assessments are completed.</li>
<li>Ensure the playground is a safe environment.</li>
<li>Attend annual center open house.</li>
<li>Update center inventory annually.</li>
</ul>
Education Requirements:
<ul>
<li>High School Diploma or GED and AA or Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, or related field. Equivalent coursework will be considered.</li>
<li>Ability to establish and maintain an effective relationship with Head Start families, other agency employees and the general public.</li>
<li>Basic computer skills.</li>
<li>Ability to provide leadership to classroom staff, parents/guardians and classroom volunteers.</li>
<li>Obtain and maintain current required Teacher certifications.</li>
<li>Ability to establish and maintain an effective working relationship with the general public and agency employees.</li>
<li>Must keep all agency matters confidential.</li>
<li>All Head Start employees are expected to abide by the Standards of Conduct.</li>
</ul>
Required Skills:

Schedule/Hours: The hours are 40 hours a week for 41 weeks. Scheduled hours are generally between 7:00 am – 3:30 pm, Monday-Friday. This position has summer months off. Head Start employees who have summer months off are eligible to apply for unemployment during this layoff period.
Pay Rate $18.00 - $25.00 per hour. Starting wage will depend on education and experience and additional compensation will be considered for individuals with a BA in a related field or in Early Childhood Education.
