Position Summary:
Breakthrough Montessori PCS classroom assistants are dedicated to public Montessori and are excited to help shape this transformational school. This position focuses on assisting the class through transitions and helps support another assistant and guide in the classroom to help children be as independent as possible. This work includes duties like leading groups of children on walks to and from recess, managing lunch for a classroom of children with the help of another adult, creating activities for and managing a group of children during after-school programming, etc.
 
Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
The Classroom Assistant is a 10-month position. Typical working hours are Mondays from 8:00am-4:30 pm and Tuesday-Friday 10:00am-6:00pm. Responsibilities include the following:

<li>Assist in the planning, implementing, and coordinating of the whole group events in a Montessori classroom, focusing on whole group management.</li>
<li>Maintain a prepared learning environment according to the developmental and curricular specifications outlined by the Guide/Teacher, including following a weekly and daily cleaning/ sanitizing schedule to maintain the prepared environment</li>
<li>Work on maintaining the environment and material-making if all students have left aftercare before 6:00 pm.</li>
<li>Set limits and boundaries and maintain appropriately high standards for child behavior in the Montessori context</li>
</ul>
<ul>
<li>Ability and openness to being trained by the Lead Guide to maintain consistent limits and freedoms for students according to the Montessori method and manage various behavior needs in collaboration with the classroom team</li>
<li>Participate in weekly group coaching meetings, level meetings, and classroom team meetings</li>
</ul>
<ul>
<li>Create and maintain a high-quality afternoon lesson, with an expectation of weekly lesson submissions</li>
<li>Maintain and deliver activities for aftercare, creating programming to share with colleagues for regular rotation, and overseeing group activities with aftercare classes, with an expectation of following lessons as set forth by the Extended Day Coordinator</li>
<li>Observe student activity and base interactions on observed needs and developmental abilities</li>
<li>Communicate effectively with colleagues and the school leadership team</li>
</ul>

<li>Be willing to take the lead when necessary and take the initiative always</li>

We are seeking a kind, reliable, dedicated and experienced preschool teacher in our Birds classroom (3-6yr olds). The right candidate must love the outdoors, hands on education and be able to provide enriching experiences for students 3-6. Must be a team player who has grace for others and is willing to jump in and work with our small team of teachers. PEEK has two classrooms a 2's &amp; 3's combined classroom and the Primary classroom. It is an adorable log cabin with a huge yard and close access to trails, parks and bike paths. Duties:

<li>Lesson Planning
<ul>
<li>Turned in 1 month in advance on the first Monday of each month.</li>
<li>Daily and weekly plans that outline all activities for the day. </li>
<li>Preparing and having all daily lesson plans ready and set for the day prior to its start</li>
<li>Lesson plans must be available for substitutes if/when an employee is not there.</li>

<li>Communicate with parents in a positive, professional manner that accentuates the positive in everything and maintain company policy regarding parent communication/interaction outside of school</li>
<li>Keep directors and owners aware of EVERYTHING going on in your classroom and with the parents and students (no detail is too small)</li>
<li>Maintain required records (diaper, feeding, toileting, assessments, portfolios etc.)</li>
<li>Perform parent/teacher conferences 2-3x per year</li>
<li>Ensure classroom is clean and organized, and set-up for the next day prior to leaving at the end of every day</li>
<li>Diapers/Potty Training and assisting all the children with self-care and hygiene</li>
<li>Ensure that each student receives snack and lunch and that meals follow licensing rules and care is given to ensure proper containers are returned to their owners</li>
<li>Make sure all adults (volunteers, caregivers, staff members and visitors) are aware of allergies, no photos and no directory students and families</li>
<li>Launder all soft toys, rags, mops weekly and more often if needed</li>
<li>Must be committed to regular outdoor physical activities (2-3 times per day)</li>
</ul>
