The position carries a five course teaching load per year, including internship placement and supervision, along with an advising portfolio. Stanford University, in conjunction with its IDEAL initiative, is pleased to announce that it is seeking to appoint four to five early career fellows engaged in the study of race and ethnicity. The purpose of this program is to support the work of early-career researchers, who will lead the next generation of scholarship in race and ethnicity and whose work will point the way forward for reshaping race relations in America. Fellowships may be in any of the seven schools in the University (Business, Doerr School of Sustainability, Education, Engineering, Humanities &amp; Sciences, Law, Medicine).
Applicants will be asked to identify the school or department that aligns with the field of their Ph.D. The selected fellows will be assigned a faculty mentor from their home department or school and will have the opportunity to be involved with the other early career fellows and Stanford faculty in a variety of activities. Informally, they will be invited to lunches and dinners to meet with other Stanford faculty who share their interests. They also will be invited to engage with the intellectual programming offered by the African and African-American Studies program, the Center for Comparative Studies in Race and Ethnicity and the Martin Luther King Research and Education Institute.
The early career fellows will have an opportunity each year to teach one course that will be cross-listed in the curricula of the Center for Comparative Studies in Race and Ethnicity and/or the African and African American Studies program. This course may be taught by the fellow or the fellow may team-teach a course with another member of the Stanford faculty. The fellows also will be involved in the organization of a major conference that brings to Stanford scholars who are at the forefront of scholarship in the study of race and ethnicity.
Criteria: Scholars interested in any field of study are accepted. Early career fellows should have received their terminal degree (PhD, JD, MFA, EdD, DSW, etc.) prior to the start of the fellowship. Selection criteria include the originality and quality of the research, as well as demonstrated potential for intellectual achievement. The term of these fellowships is three years, with a start date of September 1, 2024. To be eligible for an early career fellowship, a candidate must have received their terminal degree no earlier than September 1, 2021.

IDEAL Provostial Fellows for Studies in Race and Ethnicity

The Arnold School of Public Health (ASPH) and the College of Nursing (CON) at the University of South Carolina (USC) invite applications for six tenure-track faculty positions as part of the inaugural NIH-funded USC FIRST FIIRRE program. The multi-year NIH FIRST (Faculty Institutional Recruitment for Sustainable Transformation) initiative intends to enhance inclusive excellence at competitively determined institutions across the United States. In the context of USC's strategic plan, the FIRST FIIRRE (Faculty Initiative for Improved Recruitment, Retention, and Experience) team has developed a tailored strategy to achieve significant and sustainable institutional culture change by implementing institutional programs and practices that support inclusive excellence. As part of the FIRST FIIRRE cluster recruitment, USC seeks diverse candidates from all areas of public health and nursing who (1) have a research focus on health disparities or inequities within their respective discipline, (2) have a strong record of promoting diversity and inclusive excellence, and (3) have not previously held a tenure-track position.
Successful candidates will have a primary tenure track appointment in either ASPH or CON with the possibility of joint/secondary appointments to other units. These appointments feature 75% protected research time until receipt of tenure and will be expected to contribute to the teaching and service mission of USC. Candidates should demonstrate a commitment to conducting rigorous, high-level research with potential for NIH funding, including the production of scholarly publications; have a track record for, or show the potential to receive external funding; and have a strong, documented commitment to inclusive excellence. The FIRST program is especially interested in candidates from groups who are underrepresented in the biomedical, clinical, behavioral, and social sciences, such as racial and ethnic minoritized populations, those from socioeconomically disadvantaged backgrounds, individuals with disabilities, and women.

EDUCATION/LICENSING:&nbsp; Master’s degree required in Higher Education Administration, Student Affairs, College Student Personnel, Education, Psychology, Educational Psychology, or a related field. A combination of a Bachelor’s degree and relevant experience will be considered.
