Job DescriptionFire Sprinkler Fitter
Position Summary
We are seeking a skilled Fire Sprinkler Fitter to join our team installing, modifying, and repairing commercial fire sprinkler systems. This role is responsible for ensuring systems are installed according to design specifications, NFPA standards, and local building codes while maintaining the highest level of safety and quality. The ideal candidate has experience working with a variety of fire protection systems and enjoys working in a fast-paced construction environment.
Salary: $25.00–$42.00 per hour, DOE
Responsibilities
- Install, modify, and repair commercial fire sprinkler systems, including wet, dry, pre-action, deluge, standpipe, and specialty fire protection systems.
- Assemble and install system components such as hangers, valves, fittings, risers, backflow preventers, drains, fire pumps, and water supply equipment.
- Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and technical specifications to complete installations accurately.
- Measure, cut, thread, and install steel, copper, CPVC, and other piping materials.
- Test, inspect, troubleshoot, and verify newly installed systems for proper operation and code compliance.
- Coordinate with project managers, superintendents, electricians, plumbers, HVAC technicians, and other trades to ensure successful project completion.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment while following OSHA regulations, NFPA standards, and company safety policies.
- Provide technical guidance and assist with training apprentices and less experienced technicians.
- Complete assigned documentation and communicate project updates to supervisors.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required.
- 2+ years of commercial fire sprinkler installation experience preferred.
- Working knowledge of NFPA 13, fire sprinkler installation practices, and local building codes.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and technical specifications.
- Experience using hand tools, power tools, pipe threading machines, and related installation equipment.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
- Ability to travel to project sites as needed.
Preferred Qualifications
- NICET certification or other fire protection industry certifications.
- Experience installing wet, dry, pre-action, deluge, and standpipe systems.
- Experience mentoring apprentices or leading installation crews.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, crouch, and climb for extended periods.
- Comfortable working at heights, in confined spaces, and in commercial, industrial, and outdoor environments.
- Ability to safely operate hand tools, power tools, and specialty installation equipment.
