Kable Workforce Solutions is hiring a Welder for our client. This role is responsible for preparing materials, setting up welding equipment, producing high-quality welds, interpreting blueprints and welding symbols, and maintaining safety and quality standards while supporting continuous improvement initiatives.What’s a Typical Day Like?
- Verify that parts, tooling, equipment, and work areas are properly prepared before beginning the welding operation.
- Operate submerged arc, MIG, and Stick welding equipment, including automatic welding equipment and positioners.
- Set up pre-fitted parts using hand tools, clamps, jigs, fixtures, and other appropriate workholding methods.
- Follow approved weld procedures, drawings, work instructions, and AWS welding symbols.
- Inspect and measure work against blueprint requirements, including machining-stock allowances.
- Set and maintain required preheat and post-heat conditions for components.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe workspace in accordance with 5S and company safety expectations.
- Support quality and maintenance problem solving, including 5-Why analysis when needed.
What Are the Requirements of the Job?
- Demonstrated submerged arc welding (SAW) experience in an industrial or heavy-fabrication environment.
- Certified welder, or able to successfully qualify to welding procedures and maintain required certifications.
- Ability to read fabrication drawings, blueprints, weld instructions, and AWS welding symbols.
- Experience with fit-up, part setup, clamps, jigs, fixtures, positioners, and standard hand tools.
- Ability to measure parts accurately and allow appropriate stock for later machining operations.
- Willingness and ability to work the designated night shift safely and reliably.
- Two or more years of relevant industrial welding, fabrication, or equivalent hands-on experience.
- MIG and Stick welding experience, particularly for fit-up and joining multiple components.
- Experience setting and maintaining preheat and post-heat furnaces or following heat-treatment instructions.
- Background working under ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 quality and environmental systems.
- Experience with 5S, root-cause problem solving, and reducing nonconforming work.
- Familiarity with Microsoft Dynamics 365 or a comparable manufacturing ERP system.
- Ability to work in fast-paced environment.
- Ability to move or lift up to 50+ lbs.
- Ability to reach, grasp, hold, push, pull, bend, twist, squat, climb, kneel.
- Ability to utilize hand/eye coordination.
- Capability to stand for prolonged periods of time
- Communication skills.
