<li>Communicate with the parts department to obtain needed parts.</li>
<li>Verify warranty on all repair orders, if applicable.</li>
<li>Save and tag parts if warranty.</li>
<li>All communication with customer.</li>
<li>Road test vehicles when required, to quality check work performed.</li>
<li>Maintain working knowledge of factory technical bulletins.</li>
<li>Ensure customer vehicle cleanliness.</li>
<li>Keep service truck neat and clean and be able to account for all dealership owned tools at all times.</li>
<li>Uphold federal, state and local regulations governing the disposal of hazardous waste.</li>
<li>Perform job duties and functions with flexibility in the event circumstances shift, i.e., emergencies, changes in personnel, workload, rush jobs or technology developments.</li>
<li>Other duties as assigned by manager.</li>
<li>May be required to work in the shop.</li>

Requirements:
WORK ENVIRONMENT &amp; PHYSICAL ABILITIES:
<ul>
<li>Required to perform work inside and outside, in all-weather situations, at the shop division location.</li>
<li>Requires frequent sitting, standing, balancing, bending or stooping for prolonged periods of time.</li>
<li>Manual dexterity, fine manipulation and the ability to reach with hands and arms and lift up to 80 lbs.</li>
<li>Must be able to operate simple to complex and heavy-duty machinery.</li>
<li>Normal range of hearing and vision.</li>

REQUIRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, KNOWLEDGE &amp; SKILLS:

Job Summary
The Senior Heavy-Duty Mechanic is responsible for advanced diagnostics, repair, maintenance, and overhaul of heavy-duty vehicles and diesel-powered equipment. This role requires strong technical expertise, leadership in the shop, and the ability to mentor junior mechanics while ensuring work meets manufacturer and safety standards.
 
Key Responsibilities
<ul>
<li>Perform advanced diagnostics and complex repairs on diesel engines, transmissions, braking systems, and electrical systems</li>
<li>Troubleshoot and resolve mechanical, hydraulic, and electronic issues efficiently</li>
<li>Lead and support junior mechanics, providing guidance and technical expertise</li>
<li>Ensure all repairs comply with manufacturer specifications and safety regulations</li>
<li>Accurately document diagnostics, repairs, and maintenance records</li>
<li>Communicate effectively with service advisors, supervisors, and customers when required</li>
<li>Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment</li>
<li>Stay current with industry technology, tools, and service procedures</li>
</ul>
 
Required Qualifications
<ul>
<li>Certification in diesel engine repair</li>
<li>ASM (Automotive Service Management or Automotive Service Excellence as applicable) certification</li>
<li>Minimum 5 years of experience in heavy-duty diagnostics and repair</li>
<li>Proven expertise in diesel engines and heavy-duty vehicle systems</li>
</ul>
 
Preferred Qualifications

<li>Minimum 3 years of experience at a Ford dealership</li>
<li>Prior Army or Navy mechanical experience</li>
