Join our dynamic team as a Temporary CDL Driver/Local, where you'll play a vital role in ensuring timely and safe transportation of freight within local routes. This energetic position offers an exciting opportunity to utilize your commercial truck driving skills, navigate various logistics cargo handling tasks, and deliver exceptional service across our community. As a key driver, you will operate a tractor-trailer equipped for refrigerated trailers, flatbeds, tankers, or specialized equipment, adhering strictly to FMCSA (Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration) and DOT (Department of Transportation) regulations. Your expertise will keep our operations running smoothly while providing a rewarding experience in a fast-paced environment.
Duties
- Safely operate commercial trucks including tractor-trailers, flatbeds, tankers, and refrigerated trailers on local delivery routes
- Load and unload freight with precision, utilizing manual handling techniques and equipment such as forklifts when necessary
- Navigate efficiently using GPS systems to ensure timely deliveries across designated routes
- Transport hazardous materials and dangerous goods following all hazardous materials regulations and safety protocols
- Drive over the road (OTR) routes when required, maintaining compliance with DOT regulations and hours-of-service rules
- Load, secure, and unload cargo with attention to safety standards for logistics cargo handling
- Ensure all deliveries are completed accurately while adhering to truck loading and unloading procedures
- Maintain detailed logs of driving hours, cargo manifests, inspection reports, and incident documentation in compliance with FMCSA regulations
Skills
- Proven experience in commercial truck driving with a focus on delivery driving and route driving in various environments
- Knowledge of refrigerated trailer operations, flatbed hauling, tanker trucks, and specialized equipment like dump trucks or roll-off trucks
- Familiarity with GPS navigation systems for efficient route planning and execution
- Ability to handle hazardous materials safely following hazardous materials regulations and DOT standards
- Skilled in manual transmission operation and manual handling techniques for cargo management
