As a Tree Climber&nbsp;you would be responsible for:

As a Tree Crew Leader, you would be responsible for:
<ul>
<li>Motivating and guiding team in a positive manner and ensuring daily production goals are met</li>
<li>Operating equipment including but not limited to hand saws, pole pruners, pole saws, pruning saws, chain saws, stump grinders, bucket trucks, claw trucks, chippers and aerial lifts</li>
<li>Maintaining and repairing small tools and equipment such as blowers, chainsaws and chippers</li>
<li>Ensuring all appropriate tools, supplies, and materials are loaded on truck, well maintained and accounted for, along with ensuring equipment is inspected, cleaned and prepared with fuel and fluids</li>
<li>Reviewing work to be performed with customers, completing paperwork, conducting post-job customer walkthroughs, and collecting payments upon completion of work</li>
<li>Conducting job briefings and assigning tasks to crew members, along with work zone set-up</li>

Requirements:
<ul>
<li>Must be a team player with a positive attitude, able to advise, train and motivate team members</li>
<li>Must have a valid driver’s license and possess a class C driver’s license</li>
<li>CDL class A or class B License with airbrake endorsement is preferred, but not required</li>
<li>Must be at least 18 years old</li>
<li>Minimum of 3-5&nbsp;years climbing experience and/or 5&nbsp;years documented foreman experience</li>
<li>Advanced knowledge of proper tree pruning and removal techniques, along with skilled cabling and bracing techniques, and knowledge of various knots used in roping and technical rigging</li>
<li>Experience with technical rigging for use in trimming and large removals</li>
<li>Ability to complete labor-intensive outdoor work with exposure to a variety of weather conditions</li>
<li>Ability to navigate uneven terrain, stand, walk, bend, crouch, reach, and lift in excess of 50lbs on a regular basis, along with the ability to work effectively at heights above 10 feet</li>

About the Role
The Outreach Forester, Family Forest Carbon Program (FFCP), builds relationships with and provides direct technical assistance to landowners interested in the FFCP. This role ensures a positive experience and excellent stewardship of landowners involved in Improved Forest Management (IFM) and Afforestation, Reforestation, and Revegetation (ARR) practices of the Family Forest Carbon Program. First and foremost, this role will provide top-notch “customer service” and management information/options to landowners. This includes keeping track of follow-up steps for landowners and engaging in remote and on-the-ground visits with interested landowners. The Outreach Forester works collaboratively with the regional Senior Forestry Manager, Director and the rest of the carbon supply team to plan projects for interested landowners and provide post-enrollment technical assistance. 
 
This position will be located in the state of Maine but may be subject to traveling to other regions and states periodically. Ideally a candidate will reside in the Bangor or Piscataquis County area.
 
Responsibilities
<ul>
<li>Steward a portfolio of landowners through the enrollment process, including conducting initial phone consultations, documenting outcomes, keeping track of follow-up steps, and sending communications to landowners using online Customer Relationship Management tools</li>
<li>Conduct on-the-ground visits with interested landowners, including conducting forest inventory measurements such as diameter at breast height, average stand diameter, tree height, and project area delineation.</li>
<li>Utilize forest measurements and make calculations using various computer tools, including Excel, Customer Relationship Management Tools, and ArcGIS to determine woodland eligibility and plan FFCP projects on behalf of landowners.</li>
<li>Apply forestry skills and measurements to develop Forest Management Plans for landowners’ woodlands enrolled in the FFCP.</li>
<li>Collaborate with the FFCP team and landowners to ensure a positive landowner experience and seek ways to streamline and improve the program for landowners.</li>
<li>Ensure that each landowner has a positive experience and provide excellent stewardship of landowners involved in the Family Forest Carbon Program.</li>
<li>Provide timely follow-up and answer questions for landowners as they consider enrolling in the Family Forest Carbon Program.</li>
<li>Conduct technical reviews of conservation easements and forest management plans to assess program compatibility</li>
<li>Other duties as assigned.</li>

Candidate requirements
<ul>
<li>Required: 2 or 4-year degree in forestry, natural resource management, wildlife habitat management, ecology, ecosystem management, etc.</li>
<li>1-2 years of experience in forest operations, forest carbon, conservation, or equivalent combination of education and experience. Preferred: SAF accreditation.</li>
<li>Experience working directly with forest landowners with demonstrated positive outcomes.</li>
<li>Familiarity with forest dendrology and mensuration.</li>
<li>Experience with forest management plans for timber, carbon and/or wildlife outcomes, and forest certification programs</li>
<li>Understanding of the relevance of sustainability, climate science and policy, natural climate solutions, and carbon sequestration.</li>

<li>Inspect and ensure proper working condition of all assigned tools and equipment</li>

As a Tree Crew Leader, you would be responsible for:

Requirements:
<ul>
<li>Must be a team player with a positive attitude, able to advise, train and motivate team members</li>
<li>Must have a valid driver’s license and possess a class C driver’s license</li>
<li>CDL class A or class B License with airbrake endorsement is preferred, but not required</li>
<li>Must be at least 18 years old</li>
<li>Minimum of 3-5&nbsp;years climbing experience and/or 5&nbsp;years documented foreman experience</li>
<li>Advanced knowledge of proper tree pruning and removal techniques, along with skilled cabling and bracing techniques, and knowledge of various knots used in roping and technical rigging</li>

<li>Ability to complete labor-intensive outdoor work with exposure to a variety of weather conditions</li>
<li>Ability to navigate uneven terrain, stand, walk, bend, crouch, reach, and lift in excess of 50lbs on a regular basis, along with the ability to work effectively at heights above 10 feet</li>
<li>Experience operating bucket or claw trucks preferred</li>
