Job Summary

Compensation Specialist (Temporary – 4–6 Months, Contract)

Pay Range: $32.00 – $43.50 per hour
Location: Remote work option available

25-30 hours/week on average

Job Purpose

The Compensation Specialist supports the development and administration of compensation programs that align with the mission, vision, and values of the organization. This role is an integral member of the compensation team and is responsible for participating in salary surveys, conducting market analysis, supporting compensation adjustments and incentive programs, and performing audits to ensure data accuracy and compliance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct job evaluations and recommend salary ranges for positions

  • Monitor minimum wage and overtime regulations across applicable states and localities

  • Participate in annual salary surveys, pay equity reviews, and compensation projects

  • Maintain and update compensation survey data for benchmark roles

  • Perform audits of employee and job data (titles, grades, FLSA status, etc.) to ensure accuracy

  • Research and analyze market compensation data and prepare reports

  • Assist in developing compensation policies, procedures, SOPs, and training materials

  • Support additional compensation-related projects as assigned

Qualifications

Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree and 2–4 years of relevant experience (or equivalent experience)

  • Strong analytical, critical thinking, and communication skills

  • Proficiency in Excel and strong organizational abilities

  • Ability to manage priorities and work independently

  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to build effective working relationships

Preferred:

  • Ability to stay composed in stressful situations

  • Open to feedback and collaboration

  • Experience in compensation, healthcare, or religious/nonprofit environments

  • Familiarity with Catholic Church structure or appreciation for mission-based work

  • Strong decision-making and accountability mindset
