Job DescriptionSalary: $70,000 - $80,000 plus discretionary bonus
POSITION SUMMARY:
Reporting to the Assistant Controller, the Staff Accountant is responsible for assisting with the preparation, recording and reconciliation of financial records for the firm. The Staff Accountant will work with the broader Finance team to assist with core processes across the accounting function both in the U.S. and internationally and will report to the Assistant Controller.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Record and process high volume of vendor invoices.
- Review and process employee expense reports.
- Process vendor payments on a semi-monthly basis.
- Prepare bank and credit card reconciliations for various accounts.
- Assist with database accounting by reviewing monthly transactions, reconciling, and posting AP transactions.
- Review and post employee timecards on a weekly basis.
- Support the monthly billing process by preparing and finalizing client invoices.
- Onboard and submit invoices into Client AP portals on an as-needed basis.
- Assist the Finance team with monthly close procedures, including journal entries and account reconciliation.
- Provide support during the budgeting process by gathering information and assisting with cost analysis.
- Reconcile financial discrepancies by collecting and analyzing account information.
- Maintain confidentiality of financial information.
- Assist with special assignments as needed.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
Required:
- Knowledge of GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles); adheres to SFAS (Statements of Financial Accounting Standards)
- Experience with Salesforce, Accounting Seed or similar accounting software.
- Advanced MS Office skills, including Excel.
- Outstanding research, analytical and reporting skills.
- High integrity and ethical standards; experience handling confidential information.
- Solid time management and prioritization skills.
- Outstanding attention to detail and organization skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to interact with all levels within and outside the organization.
- Strong problem solver with the ability to offer creative solutions.
- Self-starter; ability to work with little to no supervision.
- Comfortable in a fast-paced, small office environment.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, preferred.
- Minimum of 1-3 years experience in an accounting role, preferably at a professional services firm.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
- The role is based in our New York headquarters office.
- The position operates in a professional office environment on a hybrid schedule (minimum 3 days a week in office).
